Blue Dogs
Ladies and gentlemen, here are some clips from some weekend newscasts of KTRK Ch. 13 Eyewitness News back in the day and one of them, covers the Rendezvous Houston concert during the week of March 31-April 5, 1986: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db6dRG0jgHQ Ch. 13 Eyewitness News opens/news reports at 1:32, 53:11-54:37 and again from 59:37-1:02:52 I've noticed in the 1:32 mark, they had Shara Fryer in the 6pm newscasts, I believe she joined the 6pm news in 1986 (besides already doing Live at 5). Here's some of the weekend news anchors of KTRK Ch. 13 and give input to tell where are and what they're doing now:Van Hackett (1980-1987): Reporter/Anchor: did Live at 5 for a brief time before moving to the weekends around 1983 and stayed there until leaving the station in the summer of 1987. Diana Fallis: the station's first African American female weekend anchor for several years. Jim Rosenfeld (1983-1989): Reporter/Anchor: replaced Hackett in the summer of 1987 in the weekend newscasts and co-anchored with Debbi Johnson between 1987 until the spring of 1989. Alan Hemberger (RIP): (1989-1998): Replaced Rosenfeld on the weekends during the spring of 1989 and was there until 1990, when he was moved to Live at 5 and anchored on the 5pm weekday newscasts until 1998. Then briefly worked in Austin before moving back to Houston to work for KIAH-TV CW 39. Debbi Johnson (1979 ?-1991): Reporter and later weekend anchor: replaced Melanie Lawson in the summer of 1987 (who moved to Live at 5) and co-anchored the weekend newscasts with Jim Rosenfeld (1987-1989), Alan Hemberger (1989-1990) and Bob Boudreaux (1990-1991). Minerva Perez (1991-2007): Co-anchored weekend newscasts with Bob Boudreaux (1991-2001) and later co-anchored Mid-Day newscasts until leaving in 2007. Tim Melton (1981-2013): Weekend sports anchor until his retirement due to health problems Ed Brandon (1972-2007): Did weekend weather reports alongside weekdays. Roland Galvan (1986-1988): Briefly did weekend weather reports for Ch. 13 before moving to KPRC-TV NBC 2 If I've left anyone out, let me know and you can post some old videos from the 70s-80s of KTRK Ch. 13 weekend newscasts.

Purpledevil
Did Marvin Zindler ever work the weekend newscast? I believe that his Friday night restaurant reports were rebrodcast on the Saturday night newscast taped, not live. No tapes of Elma, Blue Dogs. Never did record much news unless I was recording something on prior that ran over to include the first few minutes of a newscast.

FilioScotia
John Davenport passed away in 1993 at the age of 62, due to problems with diabetes. Here is his obit in the New York Times, dated January 16, 1993. John Nigel Davenport, an Emmy Award-winning television journalist who originated the show "Washington Week in Review" for PBS and served as its moderator in 1966 and 1967, died on Saturday at his home in Houston. Davenport worked in the 1960's for WRC-TV, the NBC station in Washington, and for KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where he covered the trials of Robert F. Kennedy's assassin, Sirhan B. Sirhan, and the mass murderer Charles Manson. Davenport returned to Houston, his hometown, in 1970, to serve as radio news director for KPRC, news director of KHOU-TV, and later media relations director for the University of Texas Health Science Center and for the University of Houston. More recently, he returned to public television as a reporter and commentator for KTRK. He wrote and appeared on a program called "J. D.'s Journal," in which he did human-interest stories in Texas. For many years he reviewed books for The Houston Chronicle and lectured at the University of Houston I worked for John at KPRC Radio News in the early 70s. Until 1971, the late Ray Miller was News Director for KPRC TV and KPRC Radio. That's when Miller got tired of running two news departments, so he hired John to be Assistant News Director for the radio side. I always liked working for John. He was a great boss who knew how to run a news room. Edited July 2, 2014 by FilioScotia
Blue Dogs
Oh Wow! Didn't even know he passed away. I'm assuming he's buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Houston, where several famous Houstonians are buried.
FilioScotia
I don't know where he's buried, but I wouldn't assume it's in Glenwood. Lots of well known people are buried there, but Houston has dozens of other cemeteries with lots of equally well known people in them.
Blue Dogs
Filio, just let me known when someone on here finds information on where Davenport is buried because I've tried to find it on FindaGrave.com, but wasn't able to get anything.
