I wonder when/if Chevron will follow suit.

Surely, there are tax benefits to being headquartered in Houston, compared with California.

Should’ve waited until 713 Day!

There aren't a lot of tax benefits related to HQ location. Chevron is a Delaware corporation, which is normal these days. Chevron's California taxes are largely driven by the business it does there, oil fields and refineries, which generate far more income than the HQ.

Chevron is definitely moving their headquarters here, just hope it is sooner than later.

Also, someone on HAIF previously mentioned Corebridge Financial (AIG spin off) is likely to join the list for 2023 after its first full year of reporting/operating as an independent company.

Chevron buying Hess all but solidifies the inevitable HQ move to Houston iyam. Houston is Hess's largest employee base, not New York, and aside from all the clear advantages to bringing the combined company here, it really makes zero sense for a new "Mega Major" energy company to be headquartered in New York or California.

Unfortunately, even if that happens, Houston will be down 1 if Marathon and Southwestern get acquired.

When AIG created the separate corporate entity known as Corebridge, we had thought it would be a new Fortune 500 company for Houston.  Apparently, they were not completely "deconsolidated" from AIG yet.  So, maybe next year we'll get to add Corebridge.

Crown Castle (+8) and KBR (+25) are sitting at 505 and 507, respectively.  They might break through next year as well.

KBR just acquired LinQuest which should get them close to breaking through the Fortune 500.

“LinQuest expects to generate $500 million-to-$550 million in revenue this year and touts a margin of double-digit adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), according to a KBR investor presentation.”
