  1. Patrols have visibly increased in the past few years, and they built those little watch tower things in the parking lots so they are making at least a bit of an effort, but really they need to update security across the whole campus. Working security cameras and more than 1 cop for every 800 students would be nice. I also see "out of order" signs on those little emergency call stations way more than I would like to feel safe.
  2. Depends on the project. Some places are faster than others. Usually a few weeks of prep, and you'll see the base of the crane set up anywhere from a few days to a few weeks before the crane (or cranes) actually rise.
  3. This is the Whole Foods and the surrounding buildings. The block bounded by San Felipe, Post Oak Blvd., Post Oak Ln., and Blvd Place Dr. in the bottom-right corner of this picture: And for reference for my pictures, relative to this map, they are being taken from right about... ...............................here: X
  4. Please tell me it isn't pointing in that direction. The great thing about Robertson is that it was oriented to see the downtown skyline over the north end of the field. This would have it pointing off toward Memorial Park. That's a GORGEOUS stadium and I absolutely love it, but I was hoping that it would still be oriented to face downtown. Where'd you get these images?
  5. They put up a map of the new road that I mentioned in an earlier post: I think you're right about the Insperity Center. The official name of the building seems to be "Bauer Classroom and Business Building."
  6. It was a Cadillac, although I wouldn't say well maintained. It's what started the fire. Hearing the owner talking to the fire investigators, he mentioned that he went to start the car, and there was an explosion and the car caught fire and he couldn't put it out. As far as people or pets, from the conversations he and the investigators and neighbors were having, there were no pets involved and no one was injured. More pictures are here: http://s538.photobucket.com/albums/ff345/bppedersen/Post%20Oak%20Fire/ (Because of how Photobucket does mass uploads, the earliest photos are at the end of the album.) As far as the BLVD Place site goes (see, mods, I'm on topic! Don't delete my post! ), I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this: The crane appears to be anchored in the middle of the underground parking area. Are they just going to leave a hole in the building while the structure goes up around it? How are they going to deal with that?
  7. I went to take my weekly update picture of the site (only update is they've added a sign that says "BELLOWS" to one of the cranes and finished some more columns and a section of wall) and noticed a great deal of smoke coming from behind 1300 Post Oak: Turns out a townhouse on S. Post Oak Ln. @ Post Oak Timber was on fire:
  8. Drove by again today and checked my count. They are just finishing up the 12th (and final) office floor (the floors with the notches in the side). Just need to stick the roof on the think and the main tower is at height. Still no evidence that they've started on the parking structure, though.
  9. They are halfway through the next floor, and if I remember my count from earlier tonight and am getting the number of floors right, there should be one more on top of it then they've hit the top. Although they haven't appeared to have started the extension for the parking garage yet.
  10. A few days ago they covered the sign on the first crane that said "MORROW" with one that says "BLVD Place:" From yesterday: Also, looks like no Bloomingdale's after all: http://houston.culturemap.com/newsdetail/10-11-12-new-important-restaurants-negotiating-to-move-into-blvd-place-tower-but-bloomingdales-is-out/
  11. Already has an Ocean's Prime signed on. Hoping to see more. Although the area has so many higher-end eating options, I'd love to see something that I could walk over and eat lunch at without spending $25+.
  12. Second crane was completed early this morning. It has a little banner on the top that says "BLVD PLACE" instead of the "MORROW" banner on the other crane.
  13. I just ate at the new Cougar Woods dining hall. It's REALLY nice. And while I was leaving and looking at the work that was done and is being done in the area, it hit me exactly what they are doing with the parking lot I mentioned earlier. They aren't changing the entrance to the lot to make it fit better, they are putting in a road that connects from the Cougar Pl./Cullen intersection around between the dining hall the the Quad down to the currently dead end bit of Wheeler there. You can see they put in one side of the road that goes past the dining hall in the top of this picture:
  14. I'm still holding out hope that they are waiting for a better economy and for more investors so they can go back to a plan resembling the initial proposal for the site.
  15. I noticed that the other day. It's massive. I saw it from San Felipe. My guess is that it was much easier for them to have three trucks running a 150 yard loop to dig out that hole than to get 20+ running loops to whatever dump site they have. This way they can have the building going up while they slowly get rid of the dirt.
  16. Interesting. Should be nice to see what they'll replace it with. There was an old Mercedes in one of the parking bays there that I always meant to go by and try to buy off the owner. The whole complex was actually really nice. Dark from all of the tree cover and down a little incline towards the back. It felt really secluded.
  17. The two "new concept" restaurants they've been mentioning from the start of the project will be from the guys behind Mockingbird's Bistro and Hugo's: http://houston.cultu...me-celeb-chefs/ Also, in reference to the other buildings that will be going up on the site: "The developers plan to develop a hotel and another office tower on the remaining land next to the new building." "Steve Lerner, president of Redstone, says the Post Oak hotel is being carefully considered and will move ahead as soon as financing is secured." "The second office tower on the Post Oak site probably will be about 20 stories and construction won't start for at least a year or two — after the first tower is leased."
