  1. I'm pumped that uptown has a condo tower (Astoria), apartment tower (Blvd), commercial tower (BHP), retail dev (Blvd), and hotel (West Alabama) all going up at once. Variety is the spice of life. Interesting times in H-Town.
  2. Ricco, amazing work as usual. Thanks for posting. I had no idea the light rail was built (completely... including stations) with a 1/2 mile gap for the underpass. Pretty amusing... / sad. Though to restate, your video rocks.
  3. It's pretty impressive how much is slated over the next few years. Also... I have to post this for hilarity, because it was in the topic immediately below this one for me... (photo was posted by Urbannizer, who cited the Chron).
  4. I agree. Also the options are pretty bad... you can either go all the way to 610 to cut south with no toll... or drive along one of the main north-south drives... which candidly is tedious to me (though not a terrible value proposition if you want to avoid the toll). I think you give it 4 years and it will fill up like everything else.
  5. Annnnd Richfish wins the award. Jackpot. Quoting directly... "I think that will probably become an extra lane on Post Oak when they do the widening for the bus lanes in a few years.".
  6. I drove this on Saturday. I was pretty surprised at the amount of traffic (both directions). The construction seems a bit screwy though. It was like they took a cross between the westpark (which is a continuous concrete chute) and 288 (which is wide open with grass and a wire divider). Did anyone else think it felt a bit odd? Tons of starts / stops to railings and dividers. I also noted the high number of excessive speeders (doing 90+), but there were cops out there handing out tickets. Also, given the aforementioned construction, there are a near infinite number of places for them to sit, so people will have to go back to the Hardy to really crank it up. EDIT: Also, meant to say "nice road". You can even see downtown from out there at one point. Pretty cool.
  7. Pretty intense amount of development along that stretch of Westheimer. Just about the entire north side between the tracks and 610.
  8. Sorry to resurrect this thread, but it's the same development. Have you guys seen the HEIGHT of the parking garage they are putting in this thing?? It must be 12 floors. Could it be a contender for the tallest Uptown garage??
  9. It looks like equipment is working on the back part of the site... the part away from Westheimer that does not have buildings on it.
  10. Google maps has new satellite imagery (looks like Oct 2013 to me). Stretches from across Houston out to about Mason road (part of the new 99 sneaks a little cameo in up north... otherwise it's not included). A few of the more interesting things to check out... 1. Exxon Mobil campus & Spring Village construction - Nice mosaic on the parking garages 2. 610 between 290 and I-10 - wiiiiiiiiiiiide 3. Galleria / Uptown new build 4. Energy corridor new build 5. Airport terminal B Great time waster at work.
