  1. Nice, it says the Texaco building is nearing its 50% inspection.
  2. Not necessarily. The construction worker standing under the wings with a hardhat on, im fairly certain he is a Mexican immigrant, which would put him in the 4'6"-4'11" range, so yes, those wings are still very low.
  3. On the same token, if you make the decision to live in a city's downtown area with action and nightlife surrounding you, you should expect that this is what comes with urban living. You are not in a high rise in the middle of a cow pasture in Lumberton Texas, and shouldn't expect it to be as quiet.
  4. You know John Beeson? Or you know the people he is about to sell to?
  5. I dont know, but when Skyhouse says they are going to build, they build.
  6. And dynamo stadium.....I was at a buddy's house right by dynamo stadium during a game one night, you could hear every word the PA announcer said and his apartment shook when the crowd roared. And the lights....forget it, it looked like Clark Griswold's house on Christmas was right outside my buddys window. And lets not the roof of Toyota Center at night. Im pretty sure Top Golf pales in comparison.
  7. How many basketball player types will have to bang their heads before those gryphon wings are taken down?
  8. You'd be suprised, I lived on the 19th floor in Houston House for years, and I could hear people coughing at the bus stop down below.
  9. Omg how could I forget 5th ward and Jensen! What a total sh##hole! Its worse than a 3rd world country there! Its like, if people from a 3rd world country were fleeing their homeland to come to America, land of the free, the richest country of opportunity and abundance, and they somehow ended up in 5th ward first, they would be thinking, "what a bunch of bull, this "America" is a DUMP! We were better off in Haiti!"
  10. I love having a structural engineer on the forum, I learn something interesting everytime you post
  11. I gotta agree, the ship channel hoods are the worst. What about the area northeast of 610/59, Hirsch, Lockwood, Tidwell, Trinity Garden? That area looks like a post nuclear fallout zone, no exaggeration. The high end retail over there is Popeyes and Fallas Paredes.
  12. You mean like the Top Golf right next to the freeway on I-10 west? Yea, how could anyone manage to drive next to such insanely brilliant, annoying, distracting lights like they do on the Katy freeway? I dont see how driving next to all those lights is possible... IF YOU CANT DRIVE BY A TOP GOLF WITHOUT "GETTING DISTRACTED" AND CAUSING ACCIDENTS, YOU DONT NEED TO BE DRIVING. Besides, all the drivers would be too busy looking at their phones to get distracted anyway..... Anyhow, this thread has strayed off topic, lets talk about the Convention Center office building/hotel.
  13. First off, spike your tone down a little, no need to get all hostile towards cloud over nothing.Second, this is just a couple of posters on HAIF tossing ideas around, no one claimed this was a done deal and happening tomorrow. Third, you're insulting our intelligence, you're telling a poster on an architecture board that "they would have to alter the structure to build on the roof" Well no s##t, Sherlock. And claiming that building something like this would be virtually impossible is an overstatement. It isnt even remotely impossible. Would it require some engineering and structural additions? Sure. Impossible? Hardly.
  14. Not my idea, all credit goes to Cloud713, hes been saying this for years.
