  1. Anyone know the low down on "Darth Vader's" house on the corner of Buffalo Speedway and University? That's what my kids call the all black house that's been there for quite a while. Very prominent.
  2. I love St Martins, its what the Co-Cathedral should aspire to be.
  3. Yikes! So Lakewood opened this Saturday and what a total traffic mess it has become. Its like having a Rockets Playoff game every weekend. 59 between Kirby and Wesleyan was totally blocked. I kinda forgot how traffic was with the Summit. Now its back. I bet all the restaurants are going to love it though.
  4. Looks like they got funding for the rest of the building! It sticks out in that stretch of the freeway!
  5. Nippons on Montrose is my favorite. Not the best atmoshere nor service but the food is really really good. I also like its sister, Yo Shidiya (or something like that) near Mermorial City Mall.
  6. I love that place, congrats. I was going to the Univeristy of St. Thomas when they were building it. Even back then it was a totally cool concept. Not your typical ugly, unimaginative apratment complex.
  7. Yea I agree, national chains like PF Changs and Rasushi better be careful because Houston has so man good restaurants that are very very affordable or give giant portions that overpriced/small protioned Chains might not do so well here. Everytime I travel, I'm amazed at the prices and small portions that I get when we eat out. We're spoiled rotten in Houston.
  8. I love Sugarland Town Square. My only gripe so far is that the bell tower on the City Hall building is out of scale. Its way to small for the building. Is should be at least 50% bigger, I mean it does represent the Government of Sugarland. Also the "condos" above the retail, I went into the sales office and checked out some models and they are terrible, unimaginative spec type apartments! I swear, they must have found some floorplans from the 80's and reused them. What's funny is the biggest selling "feature" they had in the brochures was the use of bamboo wood flooring!!! Whoever was responsible for that should be banned from designing again. Also the facade is totally out of character from what they are trying to do with Town Square. Its like they designed in without regard to surrounding buildings! The Marriott is a much better piece of Architecture than the condos.
  9. I remember the kiddie place on south Main. Had pony rides and just down the street on the corner of Main and Breaswood was a Putt Putt place with a small arcade. Also the Perpermit Parks that dotted the Houston scene. I still pass one on the SW Freeway, its a body shop now, but they kept the red/white striped look of the building. Fame City is still there.
  10. Airconditioned indoor VIP parking! That's what it's all good for.
  11. Its freaking great! So much better than any other buldings on Allen Parkway. Come on people, I'd rather have this than some ugly ass generic building anytime.
