  1. I hate to say it, but I think fcarter photographed death on the Chronicle's door. On the upside, I don't think anybody ever caught the messenger of death in a still photo before.
  2. 1st street is just north of Washington Ave. 1st street is part of the Heights. I agree with the person who said where Heights ave. ends at Washington is the southern border of the Heights. Everybody south of there...well you're just posers.
  3. My neighbors and I, many of us single women households always gush about how safe we feel regardless of some of the things around us. It is that we all know each other, watch out for each other and we take on the criminal element.
  4. See post "Feed the Dogs NOW" http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/in...ic=20911&hl=
  5. There are actually 1st, 2nd and 3rd streets but the building of I-10 wiped out most of them.

    Feed the Dogs NOW!

This is simply a way to let the mayor know that this is an important issue to his constituents.

    Damn, it's HOT

ditto...another reason to love the heights!
  9. You mean five foot setback from the front house line? I would definitely check with the city and contact John at john@marjohn.com He is the Sunset Heights Association President and can probably give you some good feedback.
  10. Railhead was on Richmond Avenue. There was also a Victoria's Station (not sure where). BOth of those had train cars. Didn't Sonny Look's have a knight on horseback out front? Was there also a Look's Depot? I seem to remember that.
  11. We are now seeking beyond local attention and trying to get national spotlight on this. So anything you can do to get national attention. It is still valid for you to call city council and the Mayor. Call your mayor. It's about speaking up and being heard. Contact the mainstream media and ask them why they are not reporting on these horrors. Donate to Noah's Ark Pac or No Kill Houston. Volunteer. Foster. There are many ways you can help. The smallest gesture holds great value. I will ask someone who goes to BARC regularly to look into the walker hound. If you can post the exact link to that dog would help enormously. Thanks for caring.
  12. I saw a for lease sign up on E 25th St just west of N. Main. I know nothing about it other than it looks to be the size you are looking for and has a fenced yard. In the Heights, alot of the rental homes don't post anywhere and just rent by signs. Or they post, but not where you happen to be looking. Best to drive or cycle around.
  13. It sounds like in the rush of sights and sounds, the woman wasn't aware of the officer on the horse. No fault of hers. However, the policeman was not aware that the woman was not aware of him. No fault of his. Accidents happen, particularly in these types of situations. Let it go, folks, there's nothing to see here.
  14. Contact your district council member, council members at large and the mayor. Banking, do you have facebook? Contact me via facebook as a friend and you will see a lot of activity going on about this with many many members of the rescue community locally and nationally. PM me if you don't have my name. For some reason, my pm is not working.
  15. Remember that the doctors in Anna Nicole Smith's case are now under indictment. Remember that this man was with him when he collapsed. As far as nobody being able to locate him, the LAPD does say he is being cooperative and they have spoken to him by phone. I think I would want to go into hiding if I were him. If he had nothing to do with MJ's death, I would want to lay low until that was made perfectly clear by the media. If he did inappropriately medicate him, I would want to lay low forever. He's a target right now.
  16. heights yankee are you married to yankee in tx?
  17. Looks like a 50s housewife in curlers (and surely wearing a shift).
  18. So funny, I was going to post a pic of my house for the same reason.
  19. One of us should be embarrassed for calling him the wrong name. I hope it's not me.
  20. The Ana Maria Lopez Storefront, located at 1050 Quitman in the Carnegie Library, will be open 8 AM until 4 PM, Monday - Friday.
  21. My point exactly, according to those maps it has only dropped one category by Houston. If it were a Category 5 on impact to the coast, it would not drop as fast. Remember there is a lot of storm inland before the eye even crosses land.
