  2. Went exploring into the woods during a run this past week. Believe I found the CenterPoint/Kinder Morgan pipe lines? Also found a concrete slab. Possibly a plugged well or something similar?
  3. New electrical equipment on site. I also noticed there are trees lining the entire length of Levit Green Blvd. It looks fantastic!!
  4. I had private conversations x2. I was also told there is a new buyer and things will be announced in the upcoming months. Fingers crossed! Also, in the October 2022 TMC BioPort master plan, the final slide alludes to it as well.
  5. Never heard of this theme park until today. 6. Am I reading this correctly? There's 5.4 acres of vacant land at the prime intersection of San Felipe Street at Woodway Drive? How is this sitting idle? wow!!
  7. Beacon Capital Partners is a life-science oriented development company based out of Boston, MA. They do amazing projects. Website: https://beaconcapital.com/ I stopped by TMC Helix Park yesterday and noticed the tower crane base for 2 Dynamic Way (formerly 2 Discovery Way) was removed. This is a bad sign for 2nd tower to go up soon. I thought more rebar was being added for the vertical construction? On the latest TMC Helix Park master plan, it appears at one point, Beacon was going to develop parcels E, A, J, and Dynamic 1/2. Hope they are still able to move forward! I also noticed Beacon Capital Partners dropped out of TMC BioPort. Really unfortunate news! It seems as @H-Town Man was correct about the sluggish Life Science sector right now. Hopefully the market gets a boost soon so some of these projects can move forward! Before: After: The BioPort Development Team was a dream!! All-star lineup! Hopefully someone else provides private equity to fund the project. Alexandria Real Estate Equities?
  8. I was reading the newspaper The Bellaire Texan dated January 21, 1959 and came across a grand opening article and business advertisement for Stella Link Pharmacy No. 2 located at 4122 Willowbend Blvd. Stella Link Pharmacy was owned by J.L. Drake and manager for Store No. 2 was Jim Wilson. Does anyone recall this place? Was it in a retail strip center or was it a dedicated building? Share your memories!! This is awesome piece of history!! New Stella Link Pharmacy Opens On Willowbend Stella Link Pharmacy has opened its new second unit Stella Link Pharmacy No. 2 - at 4122 Willowbend Blvd. - with Jim Wilson as the manager and pharmacist. Mr. Wilson, who lives in Bellaire at 4808 Welford, is a graduate of University of Houston and will be welcoming old friends this week during the Grand Opening of the new pharmacy. There will be five big days of special introductory bargains, with registrations taken for two--
  9. I was browsing the newspaper The Bellaire & Southwestern Texan dated November 20, 1974 and came across a full-page business advertisement for Car Parts, Inc. located at 10224 South Post Oak Road. Where exactly was this? Was there a small retail center at the corner of South Post Oak and West Bellfort? Or maybe where the "fast food park" currently is? Where Jack In The Box, Taco Bell, and Long John Silvers are located? Does anyone recall this place? Awesome to see a smaller car parts company! Now days, it's all 2 or 3 national retailers. O'Reilly Auto Parts, AutoZone, or Pep Boys. Was Car Parts, Inc. founded in Houston? Or better yet, in the area of Meyerland/Westbury/Willowbend? What's the history of this place?
  10. Earlier this week I noticed a plan review permit was pulled for an awning replacement. This is for Pine Terrace Apartments located at 3901 Omeara Drive. I wonder who was the original developer and in what decade was this complex built? Has to be somewhere between 1960s and 1980s. Maybe a decade left before the complex is demolished and replaced for something taller, to hold more people? If the 500-acre TMC BioPort gets built, there is a high chance of redevelopment here.
  11. A photo of patrons inside the restaurant! January 5, 1950. Lovers of good food, superbly prepared, have a habit of finding it at famous Pier 21, 7001 Old Main Street Road, owned and managed by Roland Busch. Famous people who visit Houston head for this restaurant to feast upon such solid delicacies as Maine lobsters, oysters, a la Rockefeller, Williams K-C- steaks, the country's finest. Pier 21 can accommodate 327 guests, has a private dining room available for parties up to 125. Shot shows a section of main dining room.
  12. Anyone familiar with this church? It's way, way down Buffalo Speedway! Isn't Lily of the Valley a deadly flower? Or, there is a flower that has a similar sounding name that is poisonous. Website: https://lovcogicinternational.com/
  13. I wondered when this would turn up on Loopnet. The former Golden Corral restaurant and site is up for sale. 1.26-acre site including a 55,042 square foot building. Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3033-South-Loop-W-Houston-TX/28221593/ 1.26-acre premier retail/medical pad site available. The property is located at the lighted intersection of South Main Street and Interstate 610. The former Golden Corral building is scheduled to be razed, leaving a vacant pad ready to be developed into new retail/medical space.
  14. 0.93 Acres and a 2,680 SF building up for grabs. My take, that fits the immediate area? More fast food. Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/10232-S-Post-Oak-Rd-Houston-TX/28215669/
  15. Interesting site. Looks like the complex was built throughout the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Site plan: Original dance hall built in 1948. Original BBQ Pit built in 1948. Apartments built in 1955. Rental hall built in 1965. Rudy Mraz home built in 1962. Eugene Mraz home built in 1962. Article from The Bandera Bulletin dated October 30, 1964:
  16. Anyone recall the old Houston Oilers Training Complex located at South Braeswood Blvd. & Fannin Street? I was looking for an address or photos of the complex. The site is now owned my HCFCD and has an address of 0 Fannin Street. I'm a little confused. There were two Houston Oilers training centers in the same neighborhood? One was built in the 1960s and the other opened in the early 1980s? Possibly the two were at the same location, but just rebuilt decades apart? Looking around, I see the Houston Oilers had a corporate office in the old APC building, located at 6910 Fannin Street. https://talesfromtheamericanfootballleague.com/houston-oilers-afl-timeline/ March 1, 1964: Oilers announce building of a new training site at Fannin and Braeswood. https://www.upi.com/Archives/1982/01/29/The-Houston-Oilers-Friday-unveiled-a-25-million-training/4256381128400/ January 29, 1982: The Houston Oilers Friday unveiled a $2.5 million training facility, complete with two racketball courts, to replace a training site that was widely considered to be the poorest in the NFL. The 17,860-square-foot complex on 5 acres in an industrial park is about a mile from the old site near the Astrodome.
  17. I was browsing Ebay for historical Houston items and noticed an old matchbook from the Japanese restaurant The Mikado located at 1719 Colonnade Drive. The matches also specify Mikado was located in Smith Square Center. Does anyone recall that small retail center by any chance? I believe it was in operation from the 1970s to the early 2000s? Looking on HA, I see a small "L" shaped building located just outside of both the apartment complexes. I assume this was the Smith Square Center? Who recalls this restaurant? Any memories from here?
  18. Bering Drive Church of Christ is for sale. Talk about high profile property! The asking price of $26 million seems very high to me. This one might sit for a while. 1910 Bering Drive - 4 Acres of Residential Land Offered at $26,136,000 USD. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1910-Bering-Dr-Houston-TX/27637533/
