As much as I would hate for it to happen it looks like to me they would change the facade. The dark glass is what makes this downtown building iconic in my eyes.
Looking at the teaser, everything is blacked out except the Pennzoil Place itself. Which to me signals a change in the facade color.

Just modified my post...I see where that could have been confusing the way I originally wrote that.
Haha I didn't mean your post. I meant there must have been a lack of communication for a brand new fence to be erected and then taken down just a few weeks later.

I would assume that someone from the Conservancy reached out to Colbert

I love the location just because it's near beltway 8 and near the proposed Generation Park.
I think your sense of direction is off TowerSpotter lol. Ellington Field is just outside the beltway off the Gulf Freeway.

Well, you've gotta admit...the current view is stunning.
There must have been a lack of communication somewhere

Looks like someone took a photo from the same tower as Skylineview
Sept 2nd
Did they take down that brand new fence between them and McDonalds? Certainly looks that way.

It would certainly make their "commute" less bumpy. I feel like I'm driving on the moon over there.
I agree, its probably one of the worst stretches of road in town. It would however make sense to not invest money in fixing the roadways if they hope to close it off in the coming years. Only time will tell.

It seems like to me towers such as this and the International Tower will reign in a new era of Houston architecture with their fantastic sharp lines and glass facades. These two towers really do set a higher bar and standard for the downtown area. It certainly will be a beautiful building upon completion.

Hopefully they will close Cullen through campus at some point and "island" campus so that it can truly be fully integrated and interactive with campus. Thanks again!
As far as I know that has always has always been the idea to someday to close Cullen through that part of campus. Not sure what kind of effect that would do the flow of students in and out of university.

There was a fatal accident on the site today:
Did something change? The article states "CF Jordan Construction is building a 35-story residential tower at the address."
Anyone know anything?

Does five floors for amenities seem like a lot to anyone else?
I was thinking that the other day but then again I am really not sure what kind of amenities luxury high rises have anyways. The only thing I can think of would be pool, sauna, spa, and workout room.

Since it has begun I think we should have the mod change the title to "Houston Pavilions to Greenstreet Renovation" or something along those lines.

Is anyone else completely flabbergasted at how quickly things on this tower have progressed?
Aug 9th Swamplot reports on it
Aug 14th The rendering is revealed
Aug 25th Construction starts this Fall
If this tower can sneak up on us like this, makes you wonder what else might sneak up on us next.

I say good luck to the city if they try to choose mandating a sidewalk tax after they have screwed over citizens with the water run off tax that didn't work.

Well whoops! I drove down there at 6am thinking it was this morning. I was really confused when I saw a woman with a stroller walking next to the building and then the light rail passing it by like nothing... Thought the date was August 22nd. September 22nd makes more sense though since it's a Sunday morning rather than a work day. Either way, good thing I only live 5 minutes away so it wasn't as humiliating. hahah!
Haha I certainly know that I appreciate you sharing your humiliation and embarrassment with us. It sounds like something I would do sadly as well. Gave me a good laugh.

Didn't dig too deep but this is what I saw
"the courtyard in the middle block will be expanded to allow for events."
Only the middle one of the three it seems.

Can we all just get along, or at the very least be civil with one another.

Maybe downtown will get a River Oaks Donut!
Not to get off topic but their blueberry donuts are crazy delish. Okay now back to our regularly scheduled topic

Construction begins this fall.
Where did you hear that the groundbreaking was this fall?
-
That is such a massive parking garage. Holy cow

Where are the black people?
I don't see any other ethnicities represented but caucasian in these renderings. What point are you trying to make by your single race issue comment?

That second picture isn't this tower, but thanks for posting the others

I am more or less just excited the dome's fate is now in the hands of the citizens of Houston. Once and for all we will all know how much this icon truly means to this city. Regardless if the vote is yay or nay, we only have ourselves to blame for the choice that was made.
I'll probably pop some popcorn and watch that vote trickle in with utter anticipation

This thing is going to be a beast in this location. I'm still in amazement that this thing is actually going up. Never did I think that this project would actually fall through. Definitely the building I'm excited to watch at the current moment
