I don't like it. There's the public cost of a name change (in new signage), the business costs, confusion among locals and those using mapping software or navigational GPS devices, and the irony that such culturally-specific iconography would likely cause more friction among local subcultures than it would yield togetherness and cooperation.
If the owner of a particular retail center along Hillcroft wants the City or some partnership of philanthropic organizations to purchase a pad site and erect a large statue, or something to that effect, that'd be awesome. It'd be even more awesome if the statue were put up somewhere not so obvious. Ghandi's iconography is global in scope; Indians do not own him or his message, and if a giant statue of Ghandi ended up in Montrose, the East End, or Clear Lake, that would itself be very symbolic.
Well said man.

I'm surprised to see so many against the name change. I'm interested to hear the reasons.
The length is just too short. What they want to achieve they can by upgrading everything at Hillcrof and Harwin intersection and naming the area "Mahatma Ghandi Center". Heck they can even name that entire corridor.

I will miss the old look. I don't know about this new one but you surely have put a lot into it. The old look with less razzmatazz makes it easy for me to HAIF at work without much attention. Can the HAIF|HD billboard be reduced a little? And can we get the Tahoma font back please?

Nonsense. HPA moved tangentially away from Christus' philosophy when they bought the hospital, modified the name, imposed a star on the cross in their logo so much that you hardly notice the cross, giving the impression that it will be strictly business henceforth.
Then after struggling for about two years with their poor business concept, they did what even Christus never do, put giant crosses that makes me think of the building as an annex of the Vatican more than a professional building. Still doesn't make their business concept better. Just my opinion.

That's funny. They already have the developer's info on 'coming2011', they'll move waterlights district to it in 2011 I'm sure.

How many children are we talking about? I will only pay anything above $10 for two kids.

Between me and my friends, Pioneer Homes, Gehan Homes, and Pulte Homes aren't bad.

Ahh, the weather...
Was this not the most perfect spring/summer/fall ever? Mild temps most of the time, low humidity...I am hoping for a repeat
That 'hope' is getting scorched right now.
No one even saw something close to Michael Jackson coming!

2.) Come hell or high water, GM, Ford, and Chrysler will all remain in business, with substantial government backing.

4.) Gay marriage will be legal, in New Jersey, by legislative action.
5.) At some point, oil will touch $25/barrel. Gas will flirt with $1.00/gallon.
6.) The dollar will crash.
7.) People will die in a major airline accident.
8.) Obama will not catch Osama, despite extra attention to Afghanistan.
9.) Select, inflated inner loop property values will plummet.
10.) Interest in the Green Party will surge to historic levels.

Tile is winding down for the week. All that's left to do is a little grout in the master bath and grout the hall bath floor.
I've got mad respect for anyone who has the patience and skill to install one of these custom hex tile floors. It's tedious and difficult to get right.
The granite in the kitchen and the other bath counters are going in tomorrow. The tub didn't quite fit in the hole that the granite guys cut so I have to have them correct that tomorrow also.
Thanks for looking!
flipper
I'd missed this before. This guy redefines 'patience' and 'attention to details'.

Can't see any link. Is it because I use IE8? Will try again at work tonight.

Beautiful! I'd chose a lighter colour for the kitchen cabinets.
Btw what is that material on the floor of the 2dn bathroom?

Good to hear that you're ok. Accident sucks. It messes up plans very badly. Personally I wouldn't worry about suing because I hate the court system. It is too slow and tangled for me to deal with.
It helps a lot if you know the terms of your policy. A lot of things are covered with comprehensive insurance and I presume that that is what you have. Towing costs and 'pain and suffering' settlement (I don't know the technical term for it) can be added to what Ross listed above. Your car will likely be written off if both driver and passenger air bad deployed. You can talk to your agent and he will explain a lot more about your policy. Stay well.

I'll take this over 93 plus 80% humidity ANY day.
It's been hot, but nothing like the humid heat. I think it's actually not that bad. Kind of nice
call me crazy
Spend a week in Kano, Nigeria and get back to me.

To make this more interesting and challenging, how about the OP post just a picture first, perhaps the one that gives the least clue about the location. Then he progressively reveal the place as members discuss it.

Can you discuss your choices?

I must have been having a bad day. ... i just re-read my last post.
That was an ass thing of me to do, singling out all the people that were wrong.
Im an ass.. Sorry bout that everyone.
Left to me, you don't have to apologize for that.

I made that same observation ina thread after the election and learning a lot from your answers here. But there's a word that has been absent, surprisingly to me, here - the media! Does the media factor in in the rural-urban divide?

They have been in the Carolina's for years, so has another chain called Bo'jangles. The wrong one came to Houston IMO
Bojangles isn't good either.

This doesn't look like photoshop but shouldn't the stick have a shadow?

I am due to renew next year. I will do it online and keep the old one on top of the new. I'll just remind myself to pull out the uglier one when the cashier asks for it. It won't take long before we get a new design going by how much un-Texas this one is.

He probably means Fannin.
But those lights handle left turns pretty good. It takes less than two minutes in most cases. Some people freak out when they see train bearing down on them though.

Call Comcast 18002662278. I got $20 credit for lack of service.
Call ATT 18002882020 for credit. I got $4 for phone and $8 for dsl.
I called today. After talking to someone in the US, two guys probably in India, and another lady in the US, they gave me $35 for DSL. I only subscribe to DSL.
Edit: The last lay said I was way beyond the $60 days cut off to report lost of service, but did this as courtesy. Thanks for posting this sam.
Do you know anyone who got laid off?

Know two people. One is now employed. Underemployed.
Edit: Is that spelling correct?
