  1. I've been looking forward to this as an Onion Creek alternative for friday nights... as OC has really started to get on my nerves lately.
  2. If this was the only route to the Walmart..... The other "sane" options would be to mark the bridge with large signage saying (BEWARE BRIDGE OF DEATH COULD FALL AT ANY MOMENT) or something along these lines. Perhaps limit the bridge to one lane of traffic. Put up temporary gates at 6'6" tall (that would keep nearly all overweight vehicles off). There are plenty of other "sane" options for the city to do while they update the reconstruction plan of the bridge. I supsect we will see this bridge rebuilt no later than 2014. Your perceived problem is again with the city (admittedly from this post), not with wal-mart.
  3. No, but because of the attention RUDE keeps bringing back to the bridge (pics of walmart truck on it) it has forced the city to harass all driving over the bridge. I would say a majority of drivers have no freaking clue how much their vehicles weighs, so enforcing this rule on non commercial vehciles with a monetary fine seems overbearing to me. A written warning would suffice (repetitive violaters after the written warning should be fined). Commercial trucks should be fined as they are required to know their weight and etc. though. Leonard you need to stop with the trying to put words in everyone's mouth.
  4. It is in the Chron because the bridge had massive weight capacity reductions, nobody gives two craps about the walmart, just that a bridge will have to be rebuilt at some point. It is sensationalized by the media because the bridge is in such crappy shape. There are perfectly suitable alternative routes... again this bridge has NOTHING to do Walmart. Editor, you should remove all posts only regarding the bridge (including this one) because the bridge has nothing to do with the topic.
  5. I remember everyone being rejoiced when that target opened... weird. I didn't see a single ashby esque sign anywhere.
  6. The idea that a small group of people who mostly just moved to the neighborhood try to tell everyone else how the neighborhood should be sounds pretty significant to me (not garbage). The people who move in to places like the soon to be built 84 condos will have opinions but I bet you will try to use the "you just moved here" approach with them, or you'll probably say something like "WE" know whats best, and the condos aren't part of the neighborhood.
  7. I bet they open just in time for Black Friday.
  8. It is okay if only a portion of the post is devoted to flaming... So does anyone know what the official opening date for the walmart is? /relevance
  9. I'm confused on how the weight reduction has anything to do with the walmart and trucks... the 18 wheelers weren't supposed to use that bridge anyway... however your 4,000 lb prius with 2,000 lbs of smugness driving continously over the bridge in search of walmart trucks will definitely put the bridge at risk.
  10. That can't be used as a comparison because it makes s3mh's point invalid...and s3mh being s3mh said that we know it would take longer. WE KNOW!
  11. yeah just turn the whole bridge into a pedestrian bridge to nowhere. = ] S3mh... not sure if you know this... but WE is a plural pronoun...
  12. you have to drive slow because you are in fear of running over one of the joggers. I've seen soo many joggers nearly get obliviated on yale and the bike path as well as Heights and 11th. Red, after seeing your images I started thinking of a song revolving around Wal-mart, but decided not to... Wal-mart is a silly place.
  13. Traffic is slow because people are terrified of the BRIDGE OF DEATH!
  14. although not sushi or indian food = ] ... i look forward to it.
  15. I've seen lightening strike a million times.... I have heard through a completely unverifiable source that several potential restauranteurs are already in talks... Killen's problems with the landlords probably won't go away your right, but someone else might not have these same problems.
  16. Maybe some of the people already lined up trying to make offers/deals?
  17. But YOU said you would remember who opposed you when the time came for their rennovations... YOU said that. I infer from that that your friends would be getting breaks/rubber stamps exactly like the shopping centers while I would have to jump through hoops like a mom and pop shop. Whether that is what you meant or not doesn't matter, thats how it reads. Nice attempt to change the subject though... weak dodge.
  18. maybe they are having a hard time leasing the strip mall space because they are looking for "chef-driven" restaurants. = ] The rest is just your opinion and fabrications, per the usual.
  19. The government didn't create jobs.... they had help along the way = ]
  20. but they aren't "sushi" places. Dragonbowl is consistantly subpar in all aspects. Thai spice has decent sushi, but i'd love a place where sushi is the focus. Maybe one of those chipotle style build your own hand rolls places.
  21. i'm would think something would happen sooner rather than later, given all the recent successes along white oak.
  22. I think something similar in size to the development on 11th and studewood would fit nicely there. But really i just want a sushi or indian restaurant.
  23. Anyone know when this Wal-Mart opens... I need to stock up supplies because I just read a thread about how Wal-mart was going to invade my neighborhood... Fortifications are going in place soon.
  24. not if I wanted to have it Friday night... last minute decision to go camping... but I'm glad that because I shopped at Walmart you just assume I'm too dumb to order something online instead of the more logical thought that I needed it quickly.
