  1. i liked king biscuit, but this comes as no suprise really. I always felt like the space was under utilized and could be something much more than it was. Hopefully they keep it obnoxiously colorful.
  2. Your right, they are only 3rd in profit. Point still stands though.
  3. I read somewhere that the next section will be started in 2012, but I can't seem to find the link. I wish they'd hurry up and finish the east/west heritage corridor connection, that will make downtown travel much easier.
  4. anyone know when they plan on extending this? This to be a waste if no plan to extend the trail, its not even a half a mile as is. Would be nice if it continued south and went along the bayou to merge with the Heritage Corridor trail.
  5. I've got more information as well. If you are outside of the market zone (like the heights) walmart doesn't give two craps about which store you go to. They just want you in a Walmart. The more time you spend inside a Walmart the better is their mantra. You are the one thinking to hard, it is very simple. "Come to walmart, the first $5 is on us". Running out of options to fine renewed profit growth would be a bad thing.. if your company wasn't already the most profitable in the country. (#1 in 2010 according to Fortune)
  6. The strategy is clear (yet you still missed it). Walmart is trying to get loyal customers. They want to establish a relationship with customers inside of their future market zone, so when the Yale location opens they will already have loyal customers. The business strategy is to get people in their store.
  7. My wife and I plan to meet friends at Revival on bicycles, pick up Noms and head to a local park for a picnic. I have a feeling this will be a common thing for many people. Maybe they could put togther some sort of picnic package with small portions of jams and etc. with their crackel bread and etc. I went to this bakery in D.C. last time I was there called Le Pain, and they served picnic style baskets with a mix of fresh breads/jams/dips that were awesome. I wish I could find something like that somewhere in this city.
  8. I'm sure my bimonthly bacon purchase is insignificant in the scheme of things... but the fact that I have a plan to go by there at least twice a month just for thick cut awesome swine strips is a pretty good sign I'd think. Anyone try the lamb? looked freaking amazing.
  9. Yeah it is too niche of a market, just like you said for Jus' Mac... = P
  10. I already have a whataburger within stumbing distance from my house...
  11. good thing they aren't nearly that expensive hater! If you've ever been to a raising canes maybe you'd notice they are almost always super clean, very friendly, and their chicken isn't rediculously greasy like other places. They also tend to have dine in open late, which would be great for a location so close to Washington. Stumbling in to Raisin' Caines around 2:15 am after a night drinking at the bar was a great college pasttime. 7-8 bucks for a combo meal vs. what 6 bucks anywhere else? If you care that much about 1-2 bucks you really wouldn't be going to any "chef driven" restaurants...
  12. Yet you bring up the yard sign issue, which was posted back in June, before the revisions to the Historic Ordinance, and were admittingly made in jest to show the ordinance's flaws. Lame indeed. You are wrong more often than not, as has been repeatedly shown. When proven/shown wrong you simply stop that argument and move on to another one, rinse/repeat. You get a pile of responses because of your blatant disregard for your neighbors, as shown by your manic threatening rant in your "we won you lost" post. You aren't here for debate, you are here to troll.
  13. This is a complete fabrication. The changes to the historic ordinance were NOT driven by the neighborhood. The initial ordinance was driven by the neighborhood, but comparing the original to the new ordinance is at best a joke. Our elected officials did vote for it, and as such have misrepresented their constituents. I guess you point out that blue signs were in front of vacant lots because you don't think the owners of land get to voice an opinion?
  14. Aren't you the one that said your side would remember who opposed the ordinance when it came time for HAHC approval? Just because the HAHC is working "fine" now while under HEAVY review and pressure doesn't mean it will remain that way. Those of us that are here long term, and aren't going to move to some other place and again try to tell everyone how their neighborhood should be, are concerned about the future behavior of the HAHC. All it takes is a few bad apples to cause lots of issues with this process. Your support for this ordinance that it is what the original historic district petitions were for is a blatant fabrication, as are most of your arguments. Since you refuse to call it anti-ordinance and must use anti-preservation, I will now refer to your group as pro-racism-ordinance.
  15. what in the world would let me take the logical leap... hmmm... maybe the blanketing term of "anti-preservationist". You only prove my point that anti-ordinance is more accurate. I guess you could say "anti-preservation-ordinance" if you just have to use the word. We did work with the preservation coalition and that is the only reason some specifics were addressed in to the ordinance. But from the get go, your cronies were going to jam this preservation ordinance through with or without a majority of public support (which they have been quoted as saying). That doesn't sound like a group that is willing to work with anyone to me. Failed miserably... how can you vehemently deny that the card process was anything more than a show. Do you honestly think it would have won a straight vote?
  16. Ok... lets just pretend your right, and all anti-ordinance people hate bungalows and want them all smashed. Preservation isn't limited to houses. I personally have spent a lot of time and money on preserving other artifacts, allowing future generations to enjoy them. Art, writings, furniture, vehicles, photographs, these are just some examples of things i've painstakingly worked to preserve. So even if everything in your post was accurate (which it couldn't be farther from) it still is a gross generalization to call anti-ordinance people anti-preservation. Maybe you chewed on the window seals of a bungalow as a kid?
  17. I think you mean *anti-ordinance* nice use of hysterical language while attempting to call out... hysterical language. now for my hysterical language rant... I suppose CM Jones is one of your right wing conservative teabaggers you constantly imply are the only ones against the ordinance?
  18. are you just a troll, or do you actually believe in what you just said? "barely get half the needed votes" Are you serious? If it would have been the other way around, where the card had to be signed and returned for the ordinance to stay, do you really think think it would have did as well? Take off the blinders and work with your neighbors. The ordinance is in effect already, why not work with the anti-ordinance folks (quit calling them anti-preservation) on coming up with a solution that more people will tolerate? Do you really not care about 1/4 of your neighbors? You are the same person how said "we will remember who opposed us" and made your threats about preventing people from getting COAs, so yeah I would say the speculative vacuum reading was warranted. Keep on spewing your worthless rhetoric though.
  19. What about the repeated subsitution of the word "preservationist" for "ordinance". If you are against the ordinance, you are called anti-preservationist, even if you have spent a lot of time/money/effort on saving/rehabbing/restoring historical buildings. Just because it is less blatant doesn't make it acceptable.
  20. Your claiming “double-standard” where this is simply a case of the boy who cried wolf. After incessant fabrications how can you possibly expect to believe you on something (even if you are right). If you google things enough, you’ll eventually find a particular thing that you are right on. Good work. Nice attempt to label everyone as wing-nut conservatives again too. You’ve been wrong a jillion times, and called out on it. You “can take it” because your so blindly in love with your distorted ideals that you still thing your right. It is an internet message board, and that is how you get to be a lawyer/doctor/engineer/real estate mogul/ jesus/ environmentalist/ philanthropist without actually knowing anything about anything. I bet your also 6’2’’ and can beat me up.
  21. Yeah, looks like its a mixed use development. The property is owned by these guys. http://vitanuovallc.com/index.html
  22. I heard it was going to be townhomes several months ago from someone, but probably just hearsay. We'll see. I've seen several cars destroy themselves on the entrance to that lot (its like a 2ft drop off). This is going to hurt the parking situation for Decapos and The Brazlian Arts Foundation (several of us Capoeiristas parked in that lot).
