  1. The south facade of the Phoenix is nearly complete. The striped configuration of the glass is a huge improvement, IMO. I wonder what people inside do when they come and pop out your window. I'm not sure if that building is floor-to-ceiling glass, but that would be kind of freaky.
  2. The way I read the article on Swamplot today is that there will be three structures. There will be two towers and a separate building to be used as the sales office and later converted to retail and a spa.
  3. Yeah, I get the Bellaire Examiner thrown on my lawn weekly. It seems like they've been "studying" this for 20 years.
  4. I've always heard this particular area referred to as the Bellaire Barrio. At any rate, new development in this area is good. Maybe this will help get COB off their hinys and get moving on the revitilazation of DT Bellaire.
  5. This sounded familiar to me as well. I thought it was one of the three Grayco projects, but it's not. This is located behind where the old Shamrock Hotel used to be in the neighborhood called "Old Braeswood". I go by there all the time and hadn't even noticed any activity over there. Then again, there's so much going on in the TMC that it could be easily overlooked.
  6. 5800 Bellaire is NOT inside the loop. Boring yes, but probably better than a rundown old apt. complex.
  7. I just spoke to my friend and the pool at "Prudential Main" was at ground level. It must have been the late 80's when they filled it in though because we met in '86. I've never thought it was very purdy either.
  8. I just remember that MD Anderson's Doctor's Club used to be in that building and a Doctor I know used to take his kids there to swim (a long time ago). Maybe it is/was inside.
  9. I recall someone telling me that there is/was a swimming pool on top of the 8 story section of the Prudential. Does anyone have knowledge of this?
  10. No for-profit hospitals are allowed on the TMC campus. That's why Texas Orthopedic Hospital (HCA) is at Greenbriar and S. Main and Park Plaza (Tenet) is near the Museum of Natural Science. Hotels, etc. that support TMC are allowed.
  11. There will be a 12 story parking garage with greenspace on top. 70 apartments will be furnished. This is my first new topic, so I hope I did it right and didn't create a duplicate. Swamplot is currently running an article.
  12. Well, if I had a Christmas party downtown, I'd consider the La Quinta for a few hours of drunken rest. Some of my Canadian co-workers attempted to get a room at the Magnolia last week and the rate was $300/night. They may not have made reservations in advance, etc. They (2-girls) ended up staying in the Galleria which they loved. Bottom line is that it will put more beds downtown and that's what we need.
  13. I'm in the Market Square & Theater district. Even though Calpine has tunnel access, I use the street level unless its freezing or pouring. And, hell, if I worked right by that park, I'd be out there every day. It's awesome! Good point about the Class A issue.
  14. Actually, the Fiesta down near Reliant is really a good one and there's a nice Kroger and Super Target near Main and Kirby. All of these are not really that far either.
  15. Another note High Street is where Central Ford used to be, so the description in the title is incorrect. There an article on Swamplot right now. The address for this development is 4100 Westheimer. I've not found the location of Highland Tower yet other than it will be between Highland Village and Target on San Felipe.
  16. I would also pick 2727 out of those three and also agree that the Titan rendering and video look really cool. Those balcony pools are awesome.
  17. Now that confusing, being that High Street is in the Heights. The other confusing thing is that Highland Tower is leasing property from the High Street site for their sales trailer. At any rate, it's great that we have a couple of more new projects going up within blocks of one another (even though High St. is on hold). Thanks for that clarification.
  18. Editor - This sounds like the listing for Highland Tower - High Street. This is to be developed where the old Central Ford used to be and will extend from Westheimer nearly to San Felipe. It will replace all of those old apartment buildings. This is also between the railroad tracks and the west loop. The HAIF site seems to be having difficulty today.
  19. The building under construction at Elgin and Louisiana is supposed to have a 24-Hour Fitness. That might be a good locale to sell athletic footware. I'm not sure when construction will wrap up.
