  1. http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/01/camden-goes-big-in-midtown-while-others-slow-down/ In a conference call Thursday, the head of the Houston-based real estate investment trust talked about its newest Houston project, McGowen Station in Midtown.
  2. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Design-for-planned-downtown-hotel-gets-a-revision-6048121.php#/0 - "As part of the design changes, the hotel's entrance is also moving from the interior of GreenStreet onto Dallas. The hotel's lobby will be moved to the second level, as compared to the initial plan that put it on the top floor. The ground floor will contain retail space." - Stephen "Jamie" Bryant, executive vice president of Midway, said the company is working with a "well-known tenant" and a restaurant to take much of the retail space that formerly housed Books-A-Million. - The company is also marketing some of GreenStreet's second-floor space to office tenants who want to be downtown but not in a traditional skyscraper.

The development, the $90 million, 315-unit McGowen Station in Midtown, is expected to open in 2017. At that time, Campo said, Houston should have little new supply, as others are now pulling back. "When the market has a hole in it in 2017, we'll be there to fill it," he said.

  6. http://swamplot.com/hiness-32-story-apartment-tower-catty-corner-from-market-square-is-going-up-now/2015-01-20/ A WEEK later than promised, trucks and equipment have been moved onto the southeast corner of Preston and Travis streets downtown, ready to carve a 32-story highrise apartment building out of this surface parking lot, a reader reports (sending the above pics). Meanwhile, Ziegler Cooper’s design for the tower has grown more brick-y and a bitless sleek and Mod than renderings featured a year ago on Swamplot appeared to show. The building hascontracted since then as well: It’s now 1 floor shorter, and — at 274 units — 15 apartments lighter than indicated previously. The building will still feature street-facing retail space on the ground level of its (now) 8-floor garage podium, and a pool deck above, according to the architects: Construction is expected to be complete by 2017.

  13. I think my source was wrong on the date since the lot is still easily accessible. As of January 3rd, 2015, the only change I noticed was this "Reserved Parking" sign at one of the lot entrances.
  14. This will be part of the new pre-owned sales offices. That will all be cemented more or less so they can park more inventory there.
  15. http://www.wsj.com/articles/hands-off-houston-tries-carrot-to-lure-downtown-dwellers-1419958122 Thus far, demand and rents have exceeded the company’s projections. The tower, which also has a rooftop pool, barbeque grills and offers yoga classes, is about 45% rented— a number that is increasing quickly, he said. Apartments there rent for about $2,600 or more for a two-bedroom and $1,650 or more for a one-bedroom, a comparable level to new development in other parts of Houston. Mr. Borders, too, said he likely wouldn't have broken ground without the tax breaks. “We’re very bullish,” said Mr. Borders, who is planning a second tower across the street.

One condition of the loan: that 179 of the total of 350 one- and 2-bedroom units be affordable:"
