  1. weeeeeeellllllllllllllll not quite. . . . . . .

do get a quick automated response from my 3-1-1 app that my complaint has been received and a "unique" number has been attached that I can "reference" if I have any questions. . . . . . .

lol....typical of this administration and is quite frankly unacceptable.

I have to admit that I have joined others in my neighborhood ( keeping a journal of all the crappy potholes we have reported with those unique reference numbers duly noted) we actually do follow  call 3-1-1 (all of us) and give those reference numbers and ask if any process has taken place. . . . . . . we're still unsure if this tactic works.

keeping a journal is not the answer, send your complaints (with your photos) directly to the mayor's office and your councilmember's staff so that they know they are NOT being addressed. after i did this, my complaints were addressed. also send to jessica.michan@houstontx.gov, who is on parker's staff.

311 is a complete waste of time if you are dealing with potholes.

  2. KHOU's broadcast asked for pictures of potholes to be sent to their website-- I am way ahead of that-- I've been using my trusty 3-1-1 app to take pictures and ask for repairs for potholes near my house for a month now-- I will begin to forward those pictures to KHOU-- who knows what might happen.

and has the city fixed your complaints after a month?
  3. They need to call the Mayor's office period. Mayor Parker continues to ignore infrastructure. She promised roads would be maintained better if the drainage fee was passed. She promised none of this money would be used to pay salaries. She lied on both counts. 25% of the drainage fee is being used to pay salaries and road maintenance has declined under her administration. Her opponent is already taking advantage of this obvious failure and has been notifying neighborhood leaders.

  4. Can somone give me answer as to why all the sidewalk so inconsistent? There are patches with the grass strip along the side and a small narrow sidewalk.

It varies because the right of way varies due to front setbacks of buildings. While METRO was forced to claim some properties through eminent domain, there are others where they did not to save some money so the sidewalks are narrow. I turned in a few to my councilmember who said "I didn't know there were any that narrow" METRO has trees and even bus signs coming up from the middle of the sidewalk which limits access for those in wheelchairs. It definitely is not would be considered a walkable environment.
  5. Does anyone know how builders acquire lots in Shady Acres or Timbergrove area?

The builders contact the owners of empty parcels. If the parcel is able to be divided, most likely you wouldn't be able to match the price the builder offers because they are able to offer more since they will be building multiple structures.

you can easily drive thru the area you are interested in and go onto hcad and find the owner an any parcel of land.

  6. Went by the Goro and Gun place last night.  Supposedly official grand opening.  Not sure they'll last long based on what my friend ordered.  Scallop was 10 and ramen was 11.  It was as if the food was more of an experiment vs something that had been thought out carefully.  Part of scallop I tasted was overdone/rubbery and the ramen had too much going on for it to be tasty.  This is definitely only going to be popular with the foodie crowds who all go to the same places.

    Lame.

  7. not sure if citizens have heard about the complaints with the current administration.  A recent email regarding the "perceived lack of response from the annise parker adminstration" was recently distributed.  it was sent to the mayor, councilmembers and 20 vocal citizens and i just happen to be one of the recipients.   I asked her spokesperson, jessica michan,  to clarify the details and she was quite perturbed.  pothole maintenance was my gripe and the photos of the before and supposedly fixed porholes really had coucilmembers stirred up.

perhaps this was part of the "feel good" news conference our Mayor felt inclined to have yesterday.

  8. No, and there are very few in this area.

LOL  Tell that to the business owners who have to run them out of their establishments regularly after trying to sneak in to use the restrooms.

As for OKRA Bar, I was surprised at some of the organizations that are vying for the month's proceeds.  The Women's Shelter is a great option but David Crossley's Houston Tomorrow????  No thanks.  That was a turnoff for me.

As for the drinks, for happy hour prices they are barely acceptable, for regular prices they certainly are not.
