  1. desperation?  The American Plantation is a popular lifestyle.  waiting for your welfare check once/month.  Earn money under the table so that you can maximize your opportunity for benefits.  won't volunteer to improve the community.  provide no positive influence.  rely on school dist to provide free breakfast and lunch to their children.

  2. I do enjoy watching east side residents crossing the tracks with their vehicles where they aren't supposed to.  Last week METRO put up signs at many locations saying right turns only.  I do like the ingenuity of east side residents.

  3. Well first off you have to understand that heavy rail technology usually has at least twice as fast average speeds as light rail.  The light rail trains we have in Houston aren't designed to go fast.  For example, completely grade separated heavy rail is going to be much faster than at grade light rail, even if there are the same amount of stops and they are the same distance apart.

heavy rail takes longer to start and stop. to say that it is much faster than light rail even if there are the same amount of stops is an outright lie.

  4. "The One Main Faculty/Staff Garage soon will be demolished to make room for a new replacement garage, tenant space on top of that garage, and an adjoining Welcome Center. The tenant space will create a more unified one-stop student service experience on what will become an expanded 3rd floor. The Welcome Center will provide an open, inviting point-of-entry for prospective students and visitors coming to UHD."

this sounds like UH main campus. I had to get a transcript recently and was surprised how little time it actually took.
  5. The interesting thing is that where the three lines are being built now are in low income areas, people that depend on transit and are truly thankful for the huge upgrades. A rarity for light rail projects I have to admit.

are they? the ones I know say that the station is too far now because before you could access the bus every 2 blocks. not good for ridership. but maybe they can go eat at doneraki now...oh wait, it closed.
  6. as long as our school districts receive money for having soda machines the cycle will continue. supposedly hisd has gotten out of the business but their meals that they are serving for breakfast and lunch to get the federal funding definitely head in the wrong direction. but at least the parents don't have to do anything
