  1. the more cool things the better in my opinion!!! i love this area and although i live across the street from the galleria, i just got a cruiser bike for my birthday last week and cannot wait to go ride around here! if anyone else ever goes bike riding here let me know a week night or weekend you go so we can meet up! I haven't ridden a bike in like 20 years so im excited haha!
  2. http://www.har.com/2525-maconda-houston-tx-77027/homevalue_3167481 I am not sure if this is the right place to put this question but what in the heck is going on with this house? it is located pretty much across the street from the whataburger at 3639 westheimer and has been under construction for about 15 YEARS or more is my guess...i am not kidding when it seems that the owner maybe buys one board or one window or one light switch plate every 3 to 6 months haha! I pass by it almost daily and its so weird to see this shell of a house with no back walls facing Westheimer... i have just always wondered what they deal was and wondered if there was an interesting story about the owner or property etc... thanks!
  3. is it possible that its coming to The Post Oak development? "Fertitta's especially excited about the "ultra-high-end" hotel, where he said the rooms will have "the highest rate in Houston." A flag has yet to be decided, but several are in the running, he said." http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2015/10/tilman-fertittas-uptown-mixed-use-projectgets.html
  4. has anyone seen the new design yet of the facade of the old saks/ upcoming new retail/food court portion? i am kinda hoping they leave it open as it is now with lots of windows! the exisiting food court area always felt kind of like a dungeon being so dark (and i noticed they have taken away the stairs on that first level from food court to brighten it up a bit it seems which was a smart idea! also anyone know what in the heck they are doing in the middle office center portion of the galleria where the elevators are? they have had like 2 or 3 levels of the underground space opened up on each side of the elevators almost like they are building out down there? edited to add, yep i remember seeing this now...i hope they keep these big windows as shown...its going to make a huge difference! as found here: http://www.houstoniamag.com/articles/2016/3/23/9-shoptastic-new-reasons-to-hit-the-galleria
  5. i didnt see this posted before (so if it has, then sorry!) but here is a good news update on iPic and the pending lawsuit that will now go to court in October! http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/retail/article/iPic-chain-gets-another-win-in-fight-with-AMC-7940805.php i love iPic and the amenities and food etc so i have found the higher price is acceptable and warranted in my opinion... and it keeps the riff raff away which is honestly the best part
  6. i do that for every sold out concert i decide to go to last minute...always just have exactly what you can pay in your pocket because trying to bargain with them when you pull out a wad of cash wont help you any! haha! i usually get into HUGE high priced concerts for 20 to 40 bucks! the key is to wait until the event is about to start or is starting...they get super desperate to sell at that time! good luck!
  7. I notice that the cruddy store that was located at the westheimer facing entrance next to cheesecake factory closed and now there are some major renovations going on...if you look at this photo below, it looks exactly like the same location:
  8. can they hurry up and do this: would love to be able to walk to a cool outdoor music venue!
  9. haha thanks so much! you guys are awesome and i love this forum!
  10. update: was treated to birthday lunch at Hopdoddy today! we got there at 1145am and there were like 25 people in line and within 10 minutes a guy walked up to us while in line and said hey there is no wait at the bar if interested! so we all went right in, were greeted immediately, ordered our food and were in and out within 30 minutes! i even got a free milkshake from the bartender because he overheard it was my birthday! cant wait to go back!
  11. So River Oaks District ( http://www.riveroaksdistrict.com/ ) is supposedly THE place for the best shopping in Houston for those looking for high end retailers... But I have been going for the awesome iPic theater and now...finally, the restaurants: The Tuck Room at iPic opened November 6, 2015 and has some pretty good food and atmosphere to boot (and oh yeah, lots of signature cocktails)! and i love the biscuits and butter on the in movie theater menu...addicted to those things! (Which iPic is by far my favorite theater in Houston now...with the cool pod reclining seating and the awesome food menu, to me it is worth the price of admission) http://www.thetuckroom.com/ Flow Juice Bar in Equinox opened in Dec 2015! http://houston.eater.com/2015/10/30/9643496/first-ipic-theater-opens-in-river-oaks-district http://www.flowjuicebar.com/ Toulouse, a french fare restaurant opened in April 2016! http://houston.eater.com/2016/3/29/11326790/scope-out-the-menu-for-toulouse-houston http://www.toulousecafeandbar.com/ Taverna to open June 4th (Italian food...and they had me at "wood fired pizzas!) http://houston.eater.com/2016/6/1/11826738/taverna-pizzeria-risotteria-opening-houston http://tavernabylombardi.com/ Hopdoddy the Austin burger and beer sensation just opened May 31st 2016! (lines have been long but i found (and heard from others) if you go at before noon (they open at 11am) or after 3pm but before 7pm or after 9pm (it closes at 10 weekdays and 11 weekends) its not as long a wait...) http://houston.eater.com/2016/5/27/11795300/hopdoddy-burger-bar-houston-photos#6501481 https://www.hopdoddy.com/ Steak 48 (sister concept to Phoenix's Steak 44) is set to open June 2016 http://houston.eater.com/2016/5/20/11719234/river-oaks-steak-48-announces-executive-chef-prepares-to-open http://www.steak48.com/home Le Colonial, a French - Vietnamese restaurant opens this summer 2016 http://www.lecolonialhouston.com/ Amorino Gelato is coming this summer 2016 http://www.amorino.com/ Sumo Maya is coming this summer 2016 as well! http://www.houstoniamag.com/articles/2016/1/14/sumomaya-mexican-asian-kitchen-coming-to-river-oaks http://sumomaya.com/ with more on the way! stay tuned! 12. oh awesome! i need to go revisit that place to see the changes and additions etc! so yeah, seriously, they need to put a darn green stripe on that hotel or change those window borders to green or put a neon green light down the side or something
  13. the line for Hopdoddy wasnt too bad during non-peak hours yesterday...we got out of a movie yesterday around 540pm and the line was maybe 30 people long... and i heard later that night it wasnt too bad close to closing time. but cant wait to check it out! i have a feeling the village location will be more busy due to foot traffic and other things in that area...so far ROD is not getting much of that...well...not until Hopdoddy
  14. haha well yeah its called GREENstreet so why not put like a pop of green somehow? like a green stripe or perhaps they will do that with some cool signage? but i actually like a monotone look, but yep, a pop of color would definitely draw attention to the building and make it more interesting...maybe....
  15. i went to see a friends band saturday and they played the venue below the tower...it was a fun time...easy parking, good sound and liked the open air aspect of it, etc but for whatever reason the whole feel of the place felt like a temporary setup...i wish i could put into exact words why but just felt like a half completed warehouse that for that night only was having a concert in it haha! the tower was closed i believe so unfortunately i didnt get to check that out! they were testing the lights on the big temporary outdoor stage across the way for the festival that was happening the next day...i wonder how parking and sound was sunday? i will say those apartments and homes really are right on top of this entire development so i can only imagine what parking and the streets are like then and what they can hear when music is playing...yikes! anyway, dont take this as a complaint btw, i love having new choices for music venues and will go check it all out again one day soon!
  16. if i lived here i would want a slide not only into the pool but also a slide that takes me down to the target entrance....yes i love my target as you all know by now...
