  1. yeah...and i am just on my cruiser/hybrid bike so i am not even one of the fast riders! thankfully i have a little bell and put it to good use as needed haha! and oh lord don't even get me started on the south little side sidewalk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't believe they haven't done anything with that!
  2. so yeah i rode my bike to meet a buddy coming from his home on his bike... we get there and of course it's packed but so awesome....so we are just walking our bikes around...and about 40 minutes into walking around this guy, an event volunteer, stops us and goes..."HEY!!! HEY YOU! You cant have your bike in here!!!"...and we are like "what?!" again, we are walking our bikes and at this point trying to get to the prairie and land bridge...so we say "what are we supposed to do with the bikes" and he says "i don't know but you can't have them in here"...at this point a security guard must have overheard all this while we are walking away and i see him walk up to a different park volunteer and then walk over to us and say "hey we are glad you are here and want you to know there is a bike valet near the entrance." they were super nice btw...and so i walk back over to the original volunteer and say "hey just FYI, there is supposedly a bike valet and maybe you should have nicely told us that" and he says, "yeah i knew there was a bike valet area i just don't know where it is." haha...oy. anyway, i did look more carefully at the signs that had all the rules and it did say that bikes were not permitted (just due to how crowded it was of course....) and i was super okay with that just thrown off by how rude that first guy was haha! BUT heck yeah this place is amazing...i love that we are so fortunate to have such an incredible place in our city that keeps getting better by the year. I am even more fortunate to be able to ride my bike here within 15 minutes with ease and enjoy any day i want! and i also agree, i would love to have a yearly anniversary event like this. It really does bring our city together! probably biking through there tonight after work! 🙂
  3. haha i know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate that!!! ðŸ˜Đ
  4. awesome! what a kooky little spot for a stand alone restaurant...as i loved that whole grassy area with chairs etc for everyone and always thought it was cool to see people out there enjoying that whole space... but love that whole development/area...do you work at Park Place?
  5. it's actually saturday but yep, i shall be there!!! can't wait!
  6. haha you can throw them away as you will just get 2 more tomorrow and the next day and the next..............
  7. The fact that they are saying this will be a more conventional and casual restaurant has me hopeful...this is the first article that had me interested: https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/hot-houston-bar-and-restaurant-group-snatches-up-prime-galleria-area-location-for-new-casual-american-lodge/
  8. well dang! and yeah that is exactly the way i like my gumbo! the darker the better! Miller's in Galveston on the seawall is my go to place and while it's 45 min to an hour away, it's worth it haha!
  9. Maybe a Virgin Hotel would be cool? https://virginhotels.com/dallas/ or Maybe an Edition Hotel by Marriott? I love the one in NYC/Times Square! https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/nycte-the-times-square-edition/photos/
  10. spoke to the Pot Belly location at Rice Village and they said the Pot Belly at the Galleria is permanently closed and they are not sure why there has been that sign there saying temporarily closed... Maybe Sugar Factory Express should expand there to make a full Sugar Factory... also Chili's is closed and all walled up...any ideas or rumors going around about what will go there?
  11. The Honey Hole is having its soft opening this saturday at 9am per their instagram story today (@thehoneyholehtx)
  12. NEW article about Balboa: https://houston.eater.com/2023/1/18/23560582/new-seafood-restaurant-houston i can't believe they expect a spring opening...they must be doing alot more work in there than i can tell when driving by... good for them though!
  13. well dang... i have been going to Griffs for about 26 years...in fact this is one of the first handful of places my best friend and his band Blue October played...i have an awesome photo of all of us from their first Griff's St Patrick's show they played there in maybe 97? They were known for their HUGE St Patrick's Day Parties/Events and it was always a blast! (photo below)... and this was the place that we hung out at all the time in general...especially back in the day...and even once all the band members moved to austin and san marcos, every Christmas night since everyone was in town, we would all meet here and hang out with the cool staff (especially Prairie!)... In the past couple of years the new owners really let the place go...so this is very interesting...and sad...RIP Griff's and just glad no one got hurt. (pictured: Jeremy (drummer), Ryan (violinist), Me, Liz (bassist), Justin (lead singer/best friend), Brett (Ryan's brother). and this is us now! ...well the members now anyway as Matt took Liz's place and he is my other best friend of 24 years :) ) (Jeremy, Matt, Me, Justin, Ryan)
  14. I LOVE that they love Montrose so much! While it was cool to have that little "hole in the wall" location, i congratulate them on their new location due to so much success! 👏
  15. that would be a perfect place for a food truck park in my opinion! right across from Numbers!
  16. yes definitely!!! and can't wait for that! ðŸšē
  17. i went to the grand opening of the one in montrose and got a free salad that was really good but never went back...i am sure i will go check this one out upon opening...maybe i will feel the same!
  18. The old Pot Belly Sandwiches across from M&S is going to be a Sweetgreen. There have been workers there nonstop for a few weeks now...(with all windows covered in Sweetgreen banners) I am not sure this is needed with Flower Child and Medocino being in the plaza and offering salads and more but hey at least it is new healthy alternative in the area...
  19. according to the top rendering it seems the parking lot faces the grassy knoll and just past that the mountain/volcano
  20. i HATE that name and it irritates me haha 😖
  21. i kept asking about the statue, the art, the walls, the everything haha ðŸĪŠ
  22. wondered the same thing, as i cannot imagine that gas station and tiny strip plaza lasting much longer with all the changes happening at that intersection in the coming years!
