An important update (not affiliated with this group but support idea): PLEASE READ THIS VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THE END AND RESPOND! The final funding for the Houston Dynamo stadium to be built east of downtown surrounding the intersections of Dowling and Rusk depends on Harris County Commissioners voting to participate in TIRZ 15. (Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone) The proposal is that the first $10 million of additional economic dollars generated by the stadium for Harris County taxes would be invested in the stadium. After that all the tax dollars generated for the County by the new development would remain with Harris County. Harris County Commissioners want public support to encourage them to vote to participate in the TIRZ. (The County is presently participating in six TIRZ so this is not a unique request.) The negotiations to build the Dynamo stadium have been ongoing since January, 2007, and if WE DO NOT HAVE THIS FINAL FINANCIAL INCENTIVE APPROVED BY DECEMBER 31st, the Dynamo will be forced to consider alternatives offer outside of the city! A Press Conference to show the County Commissioners that the public supports their participation in the TIRZ will be held THIS THURSDAY, November 13th from 10 - 10:30 AM on the stadium site at the corner of Dowling and Rusk Streets. PLEASE attend this short but VERY important conference and please encourage EVERYONE from your business or neighborhood to attend! Obama mania in Europe and elsewhere - you got to worry when foreigners are elevating a person with no record, that is owned by many to messiah status. These are the same people that would not vote for someone outside their homogenous groups/cultures. I voted almost all Democrat locally but not him because this guy doesn't smell right and is creepy.

Without repeating the obvious (slowing economy, etc) I am not a suprise that this failed. I am not a marketing expert but it probably had something to do with their cheesy, stereotyipcal ads which didn't align with the fancy showroom and high-end clientel. Overall this project just didn't have it together for their high-end target. With regard to the location comments or at least the one of it being on the "wrong side" of Westheimer - this is funny at best. I could agree with it (since I live north of the street nearby ) but think for this area it doesn't fit.

Pretty simple for me: I have voted for Democrats in the area and nationally BUT NOT for socialists. I am not black or white. Hope all welfare and rock the vote crowd stays at home, like usual. Don't vote for idiots that demonize my industry (oil), city and state. If he is so smart why is you wasting that ad money insultaing our great city and state. Agree that goverment should/can provide some services for citizens but NOT welfare for all bums.

Time for the first home game in FOREVER! At least it'll be 5 home games in 3 weeks!

All places are like this - North vs. South CA are as bad or worse. Just ask a person from the Bay area what they think of SoCal. I agree that we and they can toot their own horn without insulting another city.

It's sad that the defending 2 time champions don't have a thread for this season. I guess this happens when you're winning - you (the fans) don't have to sit and complain. They just finished their 3rd game in the 3rd country in the last week. Not many teams can get results in this league when playing in international games much less any in Houston. They scored 4 goals at one of best teams in Mexico City last night - great game. Thus they continue to represent Houston greatly in the interantional arena. Many teams here could learn a thing or two from them - (unjustified) arrogance and supertars (with over-inflated budgets) do NOT win championships! Let's go DYNAMO! Dale dale campion!

Overpriced Tex-Mex is very expendable. Just look at the Chuy's in the Galleria (on Richmond) - GONE.

People got mad at me for making fun of the media overplay and chickens running around with their head cut-off. Our company in the Galleria told us to pretty much to use common sense and most people did becuase many people came to work. Looks like Christmas time here with regard to the amount of cars in the garage. It's barely raining here and my place down the street.

Many companies won't let you rent cars when you're outside your country of origin/base or at least highly discourage it. The only business trip (beside getting to airport) that I have driven to is my only trip to Ft. Worth. This was the only of over 10 business trips.

On the other hand, the article made some good points about reducing traffic by providing alternative roads/connections within the area.

The view from the Petroleum Club is good too. It offers a good 360 degree view including a great view into Downtown.

From various (public sources) its seems that much progess has been made on the negotiations. On another note, the condition of the playing field at Robertson is (at least) an absolute embarassment. The team is paying to play (with pretty generous incentives above rent) to U of H, so they should keep the field at least above third world standards. I am not even talking about the same level as the average Mexican team, either.

There is much more visual progress on the San Felipe and Post Oak Lane part. They cleared the Chabad building/house and have started some utility/pipe work. Not sure how related the last part is, though.

I agree with this sentiment. Independent of her running for governor, you got to wonder what the heck our local "reps" are thinking or influenced by.
