  1. Unless you want to walk to and from work in them.
  2. Are you planning to drive from Pasadena to HP to go shopping? The tunnels connect to lot more than The Shops. If I was renting a luxury apartment downtown, I'd want tunnel access.
  3. If someone is smart, someone will connect those luxury apartments to the tunnels.
  4. You'd have to ask the folks who designed it. My guess is, no, they didn't go out of their way to invite people from the streets. People on the streets downtown are usually losers who can't afford Chik-Fil-A. Why bother with doors for street people?
  5. The tunnels lead straight into it. It invites the people it wants to invite.
  6. Do you still love them, even as they slowly kill us? Houston Crane Collapse
  7. It houses Doozo, and that's reason enough to venerate it. I wouldn't say they are "falling behind" on retail. I've been there on and off for 15 years and they've never had much retail. It's downtown's food court.
  8. Say what you will about them, they really appreciate good timpani. I played timpani at a pentecostal church one time. Early in the set I realized crescendo rolls sent them into ecstatic fits, so I really played those up. I've never felt so appreciated as a timpanist.
  9. Not a weird distinction at all, just one that a lot of people here refuse to keep in mind. The set of homeless people and panhandlers intersect, but they aren't the same set.
  10. Sounds like a sweet deal. I wonder why the homed people on here who see homeless people taking advantage of the rest of us aren't rushing to join them.
  11. Same here. I never give them money and I've never seen the behavior Vertigo describes.
  12. Wasn't it Jesus who said "Do something useful, or get off my planet"?
  13. I remember the year Schlitterbahn first opened in New Braunfels. They only had 4 slides, and they were kind of boring. My family was staying at Landa (Landau?) just down the road, long before Schlitterbahn bought it and Warneke. I miss the days when New Braunfels was less popular.
  14. Welcome to The HAIF. Most of the regulars use the "View New Posts" feature, so they saw all of your posts about where Howard Hughes lived come out in one big blurp.
  15. I love billboards. Lockmat was talking about what non-believers thought about crosses.
  16. I don't. I think it represents whatever some Christians want it to represent at the moment, and that's usually not good for me.
  17. Yeah, teenagers at a mall?? What were they thinking!
  18. I was there. I heard Equinoxe in 1979 and became a big Jarre fan. When I heard he was actually coming to Houston it seemed like I'd fallen into an alternate universe. I didn't know anyone else into him. I was really drunk before the show and the Reverend Huey from KPFT walked by, saw my "Big Boys" shirt and handed me this weird pamphlet about the Challenger disaster with a picture of Death on the front called "The Challenger and the Champion".
  19. When I lived in Montrose the only people who urinated on my yard were drunken suburbanites on day trips to see the freak show at the arts festival.
