  1. It sure looks like it snowed. Ross Perot has been promoting an office tower of undetermined height in downtown Dallas, saying there are prospects from out of town he's trying to entice. If they're looking for new buildings, this one's as good as any.
  2. It's actually an FAA regulation. It's fairly generous for most of us, as few of us are going to be flying drones past 500 feet above ground and we mostly prefer to have line of sight on them. So it's a good thing for the hobbyist - and certainly better than no right to use.
  3. The residential list includes a project on Block 365 for the Leon Capital Group. That's the only one I don't know about.
  4. This thing's not even going to START until Spring 2016? And it's half-subscribed already? Some new residents are going to get mighty impatient.

  6. I hope they keep that original Sears signage. Some of that old '50s style will look good with a small updating.
  7. It takes only $50 million to build a half-decent wrap with 300 units, so figure it's enough money for 1800 units.

  9. BisNow provides some interesting tidbits about Hardy Yards - and other urban renewal type stuff... "1. Near Northside Funding: $1.2B of public and private investment planned or recently completed Improvements: The extension of the light rail’s Red Line is complete in the neighborhood, there’s $14M of infrastructure improvements underway, and UH Downtown just completed $30M of work. HCD is providing financing for the Avenue Stationmultifamily development in Near Northside and is working to close the Residences at Hardy Yards. The $13M Avenue Station project is getting $5.5M from HCD and will have 55 affordable units and 13 market rate. The Residences at Hardy Yards is part of the estimated $300M redevelopment of Hardy Yards, which Neal says will change Downtown. The Residences will have 179 affordable housing units and 171 market rate. The price tag: $57M, including $15M from HCD..." They also have information about new projects in the Fifth Ward and along OST...

  11. Two new tenants are moving in - Microsoft and Altus. Oil prices have hit an interesting dichotomy; WTI is at $52 a barrel, while Brent is at $61. One of the trades said fracking is keeping US prices depressed relative to Europe.
  12. The density on the north side of Uptown is overwhelming. And that's before Amegy Bank and the Landry's project begin.
  13. Inside the Beltway in DC, something like BLVD Place could not survive without some covered parking. Especially for a high-end grocery.
  14. The building is great for courts and administrative offices. I suspect the police are going to insist on a structure in a separate block in which to locate all their vehicles.

  16. I saw that. Are they trying to compete with Dallas? Or is that a ploy to attract Hispanic immigrant labor by showing them something they're familiar with?
  17. When I was in town over the weekend, I saw a lot of tree plantings along Memorial. If nothing else, it should replace all the foliage that died in the drought.
  18. Isn't Parvizian known for always having a "going out of business" sale? Or is that all rug merchants?
