  1. I have no experience with any of them. I have a good history with All Points Moving and Storage (since 1994, I've used them 3 times). They are a smaller unit of Allied Moving and Storage. We plan to use them with our next move as well.
  2. I read it to say Christian conservatives are Republicans, and that Republicans are hypocrites, therefore Christian conservatives are hypocrites. Whether he was talking about politicians or not is really irrelevant. I mean, how nmainguy feels about the Republican party has been made crystal clear in past posts.
  3. I'm sorry, perhaps I read what you said incorrectly. Let me try again. Gee, where did I go wrong?
  4. Most conservative Christians are not hypocrites. I'm sorry that the few morons out there who spout stuff they know nothing about have allowed you to become so narrow-minded. The irony there is, that, in itself, seems hypocritical.
  5. I just wanted to tell you that's a terrific photo. I know nothing of the chapel itself, but I believe that sits on land belonging to First United Methodist Church of Houston. You may want to call them and get the history. I can't find a thing on it.
  6. That made me cry. Thanks for posting.
  7. That DOES suck, sev. I have to say, I really LOVE our Isuzu. I mean, other than little things like this, we've really never had any problems with it. It has just been a wonderful car for us, which is why we've kept it so long, and probably will continue to. The Ascenders are supposed to be just as good and we've looked at them--it's hard to beat a 7-passenger loaded SUV w/leather and DVD/Navigation for under 30K. They look just like the Envoy thanks to GM's part ownership of Isuzu USA. Isuzu has its share of drama right now with the original intent to pull out all US operations but now they're rethinking, or at least, that's the rumor. I digress... 40K just seems to be so few miles for major stuff to happen, but isn't that how they are programming cars these days?
  8. now I've gotcha wonderin', don't I??! ROTFL!
  9. Okay, spoke with the mechanic and he said he replaced all belts last spring, just needs to adjust them from the cold weather like jm said. So that's good, because I thought we had only replaced the one. The problem though seems to be with a coil and a spark plug. The whole frickin' thing is $400. $70 for the diagnostic test, $110 for the coil (it has some sort of platinum or titanium?) and $12 for the spark plug, the rest is labor. He said it is an easy fix and will have it done today. I should have been a mechanic. I don't think I made that much per hour when I was dancing. Ooops, wha? Kidding!
  10. Mark, good lord, your memory is pretty awesome!! I can't believe you can even remember that. However this is not that car. That is the minivan (which is falling apart on its own, LOL), this is Matt's Trooper he bought new in '97. Would it have a catalytic converter? Also this has seperate belts, not a serpentine (unlike the minivan). BTW with the way Matt drives, it def was driven like Miss Daisy. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree Now me, on the other hand.... > Thanks so much for your opinions guys. I just don't want to sound like an ignorant housefrau when the mechanic calls to talk to me about this (Matt is in meetings all morning).
  11. Hey everyone, I thought I'd ask your opinions on some trouble we're having with our Trooper. It is very well taken care of, for the most part. It is 10 years old, just turned 100K miles, and we replace/maintain as needed, however, the last oil change was 6K miles ago. I usually take it in between 4-5K (the manual says 10K or once a year depending on your drive time) so this is the longest I've gone without it being changed. Last night there was a slight decrease in engine power as the "Check Engine" light came on (that has NEVER happened!). It idles VERY rough now as well. One of our belts has been squealing upon startup for about a week; we were going to take it to see if it needed adjustment (it's about a year old). We took it over to our mechanic this morning, but I wanted to pick the minds of some of you more seasoned car gents and see if you could give me some ideas, if that's possible to do online. Could it be the oil filter? Or do you think it is something more sinister? I also wonder if the belt has anything to do with it or if that is totally unrelated. TIA!
  12. Doubtful, puma. Highly doubtful. That she could fascinate America 15 years after her Playboy debut says a lot about her staying power, regardless of what people think of her. Don't you know Marilyn Monroe was called many of the names in her life that we are all guilty of calling Ms. Smith? She will be a tragic, beautiful figure and will be idolized, I have no doubt, over the span of our lives.
  13. Have some respect for her family and that poor little baby that is now, unwittingly, a part of this tragedy and will continue to be her whole life.
  14. Anytime you have people coming from the mountains of Colorado, there's going to be apprehension on their part. Once anyone gets here though, they really love the people. That's what I hear the most. You don't hear that about Dallas!
  15. EVERY day should be reminders that all walks of life suffer from this disease.
  16. Yeah...I saw that on the news last night. I don't know what to think about it. Part of me is disgusted, and part of me thinks this is just the new era in Texas football and I ought to just deal with it. Do you think that eventually school books will be sponsored by a car dealership? Or maybe ads plastered all over school buses? Slippery slope, but who can fight 1 million dollars?
  17. I answered your post in the Sugarland section, just fyi!
  18. It is free for you to use Dave's services to get into your new house, so I'd definitely work with him on that end as well. He is a seasoned agent and can help you possibly get upgrades and other perks you may not be able to get on your own. Though he is paid by the builder, his loyalty is to you. Good luck!
  19. ew! One Donald Trump on the island is enough.
  20. Great post Erick, looks like all of Katy's high schools have their fair share of criminal stats, esp Katy High! Morton Ranch doesn't seem to have any more than anyone else...looks like Mayde Creek tops the list for marijuana possession no real shocker there....
  21. Ah yes, I think I will end up having to go down to Kemah. I didn't want to originally, but I am unsure if even Central Market has 'em fresh or frozen. I was on Capt Henry's website this morning, they're sort of an old standby aren't they? When Kemah was still Kemah. Thanks for posting everyone, I appreciate it. I am doing a Key West Dinner for my hubby for Valentine's Day (we got married in KW), complete with palm fronds, candles, tropical music, and of course, the food. Stone crab, grouper, key lime pie. I can't wait!!
  22. and some of them, frankly, shouldn't, because they don't know what the hell they're voting for.
