  1. Before I get excited, what are the chances of this actually getting built? I saw today we may be looking at a recession soon.
  2. That's still quite a bit of height. This is the biggest skyscraper since Heritage Plaza. "Only 15 floors" is still a long ways to go and will be magnified the higher up it gets.
  3. I count about 20 floors. Looks like maybe another 4 floors to go plus the crown which will add another 5 floors or so. It's amazing how much this building DOMINATES the west loop. I wonder if Fertitta's tower will have the same feel?
  4. Went and found the link for the oxblue camera. Getting a much closer look at the floors now that it's over 30 stories up. Can also see other projects rising. http://oxblue.com/open/Hines/609Main
  5. I think it's important, to an extent, for us, the COH, to have unfishined projects in the process of rising when the Superbowl comes to town next year. I think it would look good on the city to see construction cranes on every corner like there is now indicating a robust economy that is struggling to keep up with the population and job growth. In February 2017, 609 Main should still have cranes over it along with this apartment tower, perhaps the hotel next door, Texas Children's expansion tower, Fertitta's tower on the west loop and God only knows what other projects will be coming out of the ground at that point. What other projects will still be UC at that time?
  6. If only it was 30 floors taller lol. Even so, it's a great looking building! Far better than the 10 story block of masonry that stood there before it.
  7. This project is a damn joke and it's depressing to look at. Please just let this project slip into the bowels of this forum never to be seen again.
  8. In that last picture, it sort of gives you an idea of what 6 Houston Center would have looked like given the same general location and the building being about 30 stories tall now. Not much impact.
  9. This thing is finally starting to come along fairly nicely now. Excited to see the finished product!
  10. Agreed. Looks like they are working on the tapered floors. I suspect this tower is as dominating as it's going to get now.
  11. I count 19 floors-ish so looks like another 5 floors to go. Keep in mind that there is also a crown on this building so it'll have the feel of a 30-story building when it's done. Already driving down the west loop it looks a helluva lot bigger than it is. I mean this thing dominates!
  12. on page 4, I saw a post that seems to indicate this would have been 40 stories. So I guess this has shrunk down to 30 stories?
  13. What do you mean go to 12? The tower went from 35 stories to 12 stories or their going to build the garage and the first few floors of the tower? Thanks in advance for the info.
  14. Hell why not stop the rail in College Station. Having the main train station 20 miles away from downtown is ridiculously inconvenient to pretty much everybody who doesn't live along the 290 corridor. Furthermore, the idea is to not only connect business between the two cities but cultures as well. Stopping that far northwest of the city makes it a hassle to get to midtown, downtown or NRG Park. Their heart is in the right place but I don't know where in the h e l l their brain is.
  15. It's gonna look pretty slick but slightly out of place compared to the other very dated terminals with the bland, beige walls on the outside.
  16. That's a slick line-up. Who are the carriers? Singapore, Qatar, Air France and Emirates? Would be cool to see Air China and Lufthansa in there, too.
  17. I read yesterday that Anadarko's deal to purchase Apache fell through. I wonder if somebody else will move in and try and buy them? If so, bye bye headquarters, yes?
  18. Go figure. I just don't understand why you wouldn't want to take advantage of cheap material to build the tower knowing that by the time the price of oil recovers, you're building is ready to be delivered. I mean if you're hell bent on developing the property, to my trivial, elementary mind, it makes sense.
  19. For as short as this building is currently, it certainly has a dominating presence while driving down the west loop.
  20. I would assume that every highrise building, from the foundation to the pillars are over engineered by a large degree. I'm sure the foundation could probably support a building far taller than "just" 36 stories. I'm not an engineer but I would assume that's the case.
  21. That picture PRECISELY describes what I was trying to say in a previous post about the Chase Tower not aging well. It's aged poorly and is in serious need of a power wash.
  22. Well Houston won the Air New Zealand battle with ORD so I suspect we have a decent shot.
