Not to mention if this IS a 100+ story building, it would take years to complete anyway. Far longer than any project to date in this city probably. What? 3 years maybe? It's hard to forecast market conditions for next year much less three years but it only stands to reason we won't be in the oil slump we're in now at that time.

First, it's a very dull building with little aesthetic appeal. Second, especially when you're right up next to it, the building needs power washing. There is black something (mold?) around the windows where the water runs off the building. I dunno, I just don't much care for the way it looks. Nothing personal lol. Love the height tho.

Definitely a different appearance. Chase is a hideously ugly building that has aged poorly. The only reason why I "like" this building is because it's a supertall and the tallest in Texas. But having a building equal in height could be interesting for sure.

Amegy Bank At 1717 West Loop S.
wxman replied to nolaboy's topic in River Oaks/Upper Kirby/Greenway Plaza/Bissonnet
Well being that they haven't jumped the crane and they're working on the 15th floor, I'd imagine this is it. The renderings looked far taller tho.- 558 replies

Wasn't this supposed to be 24-stories? Not sure why the tree is up already.

What's the threshold to be considered a highrise? Is it 400'? Isn't 500' considered a demarcation for something?- 590 replies

No way this project is getting out of the ground by then. Oil prices aren't expected to recover in 2016 and even if they DID, they're not going to move dirt the moment oil tops $70 or $80 a barrel. I suspect this project is either DOA or still 5+ years away and will likely be reduced in size. I'm talking out my a $ $ currently, I admit, but I suspect that's what will happen.

I agree that this building is sexy. Sure, it's not a skyline changer and most people won't even notice it's presence but I love the sunken lobby, open to the outside. Not to mention, this will rival Pennzoil in height won't it?

While I know your comment was tongue-n-check, is this lot even large enough to house a tower in the 1200 to 1400 foot range? I would think for a tower that tall you'd need a pretty large base...far larger than anything we've seen in Houston to date.

Booo!!! Periodically I like to park on Lee Rd. and watch the flights come in and I actually saw this plane. If you're not paying attention, it looks like any other domestic flight on a 737. I'm sad to see them go

For some reason, I really like this project. Being that it's not lost among other towers, I think this one will really stand out. It's simple but sexy.- 558 replies

Museo Institute For The Medical Arts In The Museum District
wxman replied to Urbannizer's topic in Going Up!
Anyway, back to this building. The rendering reminds me a lot of Transco....big shoulders. Anybody else see the comparison; especially if it was standing along in the Museum District. I just hope they don't scale it down any. Sigh...- 630 replies

THIS. This is enough to give any of us a sticky spot in our underwear. Urbannizer: What scoop do you have that encouraged you to move this into the ''Going Up'' section? Is this imminent?- 630 replies

I'm sure this has been answered many times before but the timetable to build a skyscraper is several years, especially in the 40+ floor range. So why not take advantage of the 'cheap' resources now for when the market recovers several years from now when the building is ready for occupancy. Sorry, I'm sort of ignorant on these issues.

I think a tall building on this site would look odd next to Chase Tower. It would appear that they were competing for height....a "who's d_ck is bigger contest. This would look better maybe on a lot by Discovery...assuming it'll be tall.

Is anything happening with this? I tune into the construction cam periodically and it looks exactly the same today as it did a month ago.

Man, even tho this tower won't be a skyline changer, this is one of my favorite projects. Can ANYBODY provide any hope of this being built? Is it possible that construction has started?

Seems like to me that this building is rising at a snails pace. Am I the only one who feels that way?
