  1. i'd rather them wait an additional year and remain closer to the original plans but i think mary has whole foods by the short hairs on this one.... i believe this is going to be the first whole foods built and owned by an outside developer and leased by whole foods.
  2. while there is zero chance that mainplace gets cancelled, there are also zero major tenants on board save for KPMG (which at 4 floors isn't all that major). i take that back, there is one major prospective tenant out there that i'm aware of but it's so "up in the air" that i assure you it isn't making the folks at hines sleep any better at night. that being said, class A cbd buildings are still performing better vacancy-wise then their historic averages.
  3. don't hold your breath, those quotes are 2.5 yrs old
  4. well then it wouldn't be inside the BP campus, would it? isn't this supposed to be the largest LEED platinum building in the country when it opens? a distinction that won't last long but a cool distinction nonetheless.
  5. went to studio movie grill last night and let me say that my girlfriend and i came away completely unimpressed... give me alamo draft house ANYDAY. i mean using rolling office chairs was just flat out annoying, and the finishes inside the theater felt so cheap, lit felt like we were sitting inside a class b office building. poor selection of drinks, completely predictable food (and STALE popcorn ), and overpriced. didn't help that it was completely DEAD last night either, although we did go to the late showing at 10:20. dear god, please put an alamo draft house in the old w. alabama bookstore location. /rant
  6. Alliantgroup (Alliant Group) Cooperate Headquarters At 3009 Post Oak Blvd. Late 2010 groundbreaking, delivering in 2012 14 stories 300,000 SF LEED Gold Directly across from Waterwall On proposed METRO Uptown line Developed, built, and self-financed by Skanska i dont know how to post the pic so here's a PDF picture, i'm sure someone much smarter than i can post it. 3009 post oak.pdf
  7. i can say with the utmost assurance that NRG saved the Pavilions.
  8. yeah i actually think it looks alright at night... aren't there plans to develop the adjacent lot into more of a mixed use development? i know they have plans on redeveloping the shopping center right down westheimer where the blockbuster and corellis is.
  9. so does this mean they are abandoning (or at least postponing) their plans for a new convention hotel? while i like the direction they're thinking, the situation is a little off-putting and ultimately a 4 or 5 star convention hotel would do wonders for the economy, imo. moreso than a heritage center, at least.
  10. austin's last mayor set a goal of increasing the CBD's permanent population to 25K in the near future (can't remember the exact year)... i'm sure the city is doing all they can to incentvise the developers to pursue these projects. that being said, last i heard a lot of the new highrise inventory is still sitting on the market, and i have a hard believing that in this economy a lot of these units are moving... particullarly at the $/SF they're probably asking for. could be wrong, tho.
  11. they're on s. wynden right behind four oak place... i see them almost everyday. they'll be very nice and quite large (they're much taller than the other townhomes in the area) but will fit in nicely... the street is practically all nice townhomes.
  12. wasn't the engine room right around there?
  13. i'd say any decent NY-style pizza in houston is better than just about any deepdish pizza from chicago. if i want a deepdish pizza, i'll go ahead and order a lasagna.
  14. have they released a real rendering of this thing yet? i have a hard believing that construction is already well underway and the only rendering we've seen is a preliminary crayola drawing.
  15. apparently you've never been to whiskey creek
  16. while the selection at taps was decent, the bartenders definitely lacked the requisite knowledge a place calling itself "Taps House of Beers" demands. i asked for a summerfest and the girl just looked at me like i was speaking chinese.
  17. went last week... burger was pretty tasty, the smash fries were awesome although a little on the greasy side. did not care for the space at all... just doesn't feel like a burger joint, and their signs looks like it belongs to gamestop or something.
  18. the building is shaped like a parallelagram, so if viewed from let's say the south, it becomes much more narrow and sleek (so to speak)... it's a very nice looking building, imo. there's one rendering of this building viewed from the pierce elevated that makes it look almost triangular. and i'd bet that this building will get going sooner rather than later.
  19. saw new renderings today (or renderings i dont recall seeing before).... seemed to encompass a slightly smaller parcel of land, or perhaps the scale was smaller. regardless, the buildings had a more modern look and the the project was less dense. the central twin towers were replaced by a singular, modern blue glass tower, and there were smaller, similar towers flanking either side of the central waterway. i'll see if i can find it, although it was a hard copy i was looking at. EDIT: n/m... the renderings i saw looked almost identical to ones posted awhile back.
  20. well the fact that some (if not all) of the property is on the market would seem to indicate that this "project" is nothing more than a pipe dream.
  21. the site is directly north of the met garage, northside of dallas in between allen pkwy and I-45.... this is going to be an excellent addition to the skyline. can't wait til they start.
