I once read from a post that the author of the orginal Poltergeist movie put up, that he had based the story line from reports that came from the Black Hope subdivision here in the Houston area.

I cannot speak for the back side of the property but the front main building is currently being used and renovated by the Houston area Gulf Coast Head start program as well as several similar agencies.

I have always loved old cemetaries. So many tiems I have wished I could hear the story of the people buried there and many times their stones will pretty much tell the story for you.

There were 2 diffrent theatres at Almeda each in the same parking lot but on diffrent sides. One night I was there with some friends and we were waiting in line to see a movie. Soem kids came up in a fancy custom car did a few donuts and burn outs then shot across the parking lot towards the other. About half way across the car suddenly gave a lurch and there was a gring noise. Evidently they did not know or forgot about the big curb dividing the parking lot down the middle. Luckily no was hurt but I think they ended up ripping their under carriage out as well as a few other things. When we got out of our movie two hours later they were still out there with a tow truck and a few police.

Not to go into to much detail but we dumped our subscription some time ago after the Cron started publishing articles that were very missleading, not accurate, only talking about one side of the story and so many other things that my lady and I dissagreed with. Now we read all of our news online.

I have so been wanting to get back in to the building and do another investigation and interview some fo the residentsd. Many of them seem to closed mouth whenever anyone starts talking about weather itr is haunted or not. I was once contacted by one resident who wanted to talk about some things but one day he stopped returning my messages or answering his phone. I would love to add some pictures to my collection of what the place looks like now that people actually living in the building. I know that I put these up somewhere else on this board but here are the semi finished pictures of the inside again. -
I could see a line going down Spencer Hwy all the way into LaPorte. That would be so nice one day. And make getting to work so much easier. Maybe it coudl terminate near the Local Airport or just beyond at Hwy 146 or it coudl turn south and head for The Kemah Waterfront. There is already an abonded rail line running that way so not much work would be needed.

Your right, It was renamed to Historic Houston.

OH How I wish I had know about this early I knwo a number of people like myself that would have loved to attend this outing. We have talked about using solar power for years but even using solar power to off set our usage by a fraction is still very expensive. One day when it comes down in price we are planning to look at it again.

I wonder what the residential space would sell for in this building? I think it would be really neat if it was accessible to the average person that is living on a realistic pay check to pay check income! If so and the living space was of a decent size I would move my family in.

When did that happen?

Incredible shots! Thanks for sharing.

I have been in that building once. I was so impressed. It is to bad that they are just letting it fall apart. I have always wished that I could purchase it and restore it back to its former glory! But alas I have trouble just making it from check to check some times. The curse of being a partent with 2 kids in todays society!
