This is an ongoing problem with many failed restaurants and small businesses.  They don't advertise.

They think posting a picture on Instagram is advertising.  It's not.  Social media is a useful supplement, but it's not the same thing.

It happens to me all the time that I learn about an interesting restaurant by word-of-mouth, only to find out when I try to visit that it's out of business.

I loved Revival so much but the quality and food was never good when the new owners took over and made this concept. Its a shame as its a great location.

  2. I have been watching a really intense perimeter fence go up and get painted - guess that wasn't pretty enough to be in the renderings? Not a huge deal as this is a day care but kinda odd that with the new renderings they never added it.

I speculated last year in a post above the cleared lots behind 2102 N Shepherd Dr  (635 W 21st St,  637 W 21st St, and 643 W 21st St) would likely be surface parking. And according to permits filed for 635 W 21st St and 637 W 21st St, it is:

    Uuuuuuuggghhhhh

    Also from the article:

"'What seems to be getting to the customers is the building is empty,' Thomas [Morales] says. "It's something else if they [Wolf Capital Partners] had tenants in it. But they think, 'well, no one's using it right now.'"

Yeah I get it but if your neighbor moves out and has their home on the market you don't get to take over their driveway while they are selling it.

It's more of an optics thing and its easy to go after the big bad developer. At least that's my take after reading the article.

  6. This is a fascinating question - it does also appear to have been a lot of warehouses and such at some point in the last 50 years. Really is changing a lot - a lot like whats happening on the east end of town.

I am super hopeful the Shep/Durham upgrades will start to make it easier in the coming years to cross via foot and bike to Timber Grove and beyond. Lotta great stuff popping up but it always feels like getting from the Heights to Timber Grove is more work than it should be - unsafe and like playing frogger on foot or bike and even in a car parking is a nightmare at many great spots.

  7. So I am a little torn - I don't think either of the tex-mex concepts in this location were every especially great. A couple good standout items at each but I don't have a ton of love loss. That said, as an Allston St resident I am very excited that this clutch location is getting a new tenant fairly quickly. Hoping its home to great food, drinks and staff. The heights really is loyal to consistently good businesses.

Add Peaky Grinders to the list of food stall vendors / restaurants moving out of Railway Heights Market at 8200 Washington Ave. Monday is the burger stand's last day at the food hall and market.

Peaky Grinders announced the news on social media Saturday:

"Change is in the air! We're saying goodbye to our current home at Railway Heights and saying hello to a new chapter in Midtown. Join us for our final two days here and get ready to follow us to our new location. We couldn't have done it without your amazing support, thank you!"

As noted in the Midtown forum, Peaky Grinders is coming to Conservatory's new location at 606 Dennis St.

Super lovely burgers and team - its a shame to "lose them" from greater heights region but love that they are getting their own brick and mortar!

PrimoHoagies, a restaurant serving South Philly-style hoagies, opened last week. It's located at 4015 Washington Ave, Suite E.

This was reported by The Leader last week:

"On Thursday, PrimoHoagies opened its doors to the community at 4015 Washington Ave. This is the Philadelphia-based restaurant’s first Texas and Houston-area restaurant."

    https://www.theleadernews.com/food_drink/nibbles-and-sips-south-philly-hoagie-spot-opening-on-washington-avenue/article_060806b8-b45d-11ed-929d-03ffe0d478d2.html

VERY excited to have more sandwiches around - with all the great food in Houston I still feel like we dont have a ton of great sandwich options. Wish it were a local one off but hey I am down for a good hoagie regardless the home base!
