The double roundabouts off i45 and 1375 en route to Sam Houston National Forest are always a trip. They are just so random and seemingly out of place. Love em.

I think Acadian-Cajun restaurant Acadian Coast may close its location at Navigation Place.
Last month, a listing for 2929 Navigation Blvd, Suite 200 appeared on a few real estate sites. Acadian Coast occupies suite 200.

https://api-lease.crexi.com/assets/464678/flyerBummer. They have a great bar/happy hour. But on the other hand, I don't think I've ever seen them close to capacity for a space that size.

I made an account to ask this question….what is that land across from Laura on Jensen towards downtown being cleared out for?? Few acres there. I didn’t think Midway owned that property. Is it a continuation of the Laura? Very curious…
HHA Property. There is a thread on it here:

Pizza from the pizza bot was reasoably good on a walk home from a bar last weekend. It's not Franks, but there wasn't a giant 1am franks line either. It takes about 3 minutes to spit out an entire well cooked pizza.
All hail pizza-bot.

The bayou looks a lot different during the months when there’s less (rainfall) runoff flowing into it. It was actually quite pretty this year because of the drought.
Can confirm. I often walk the east end bayou trail out towards Lockwood and the water color had been so nice. It's always great to walk along the bayou and watch the herons hunting.

They can easily contract with a nearby garage for preferred monthly rates for students, faculty, and administrators, no?
Yeah, they already do with the garage over Creme de la Creme. Those who are willing to pay quite a rate for there. The rest fight for those STCL spots. There are a lot of students at STCL.
The real solution here is to build a garage over that whole city block they own, but...alas.

Two are recently shuttered Underbelly concepts (One Fifth and Hay Merchant/Georgia James). Yeah, the lease was up...I'm sure it will get fenced off and turned into something soon.
Another is a link for Handies+Douzo which is in the heights and open, so unsure what that is supposed to be.
My guess is the Reddit OP doesn't follow the Houston restaurant scene and recent closures.

Imma be that guy. Can they fix Runnels and turn the navigation Jensen intersection into a roundabout already??
There has been a fair amount of utility work in the area recently that I presume is part of the roundabout project as it was being performed on all four sides. Hopefully the project is on its way.

- Short operating hours
- Not open on weekends
- Half of the stalls are vacant
If it brought in some b-list, or chain restaurants, even that would help. Look at the food court under Pennzoil Place. That place is absolutely mobbed at lunch time. People wait in line 45 minutes to get Treebeards to go. The Chick-fil-a is still busy at 5pm when everything else has closed.
I think Treebeards would be a good fit for Finn Hall. The one at Pennzoil is always busy, and it's a local brand. There's another Treebeards at the Episcopal Cathedral at Fannin and Texas. A third outlet seems warranted.
Finn Hall finally caved. Open on weekends (Saturday's only, but it's a start) starting in September:

I’d be down for an adaptive reuse of an old mall though.
What if we turned an old mall into a high-speed rail station?

You're kidding right? One of the most affordable is the well known Tacos Tierra Caliente. You can spend $20 like nothing and still be hungry. I'm not just talking about price but quantity.
You can get literally 10 tacos at Taconazo for $20. Or a combos with multiple tacos and sides for under $20. Last time I went I was...far from sober, along with 2 friends, and $20 fed us easily.
Or here is one for sit-down restaurants: Candente's "feast" and grill combo options come in at <$20 a head. Sure, they are $36-$114 for the "feast" but they feed 3-6 easily.
The list of other places is long, but I do not feel like derailing this thread further.

More like 20% of places inside the loop. Half the food trucks don't even make that standard anymore.
I'm so confused. Where do you eat? There are plenty of local places (let alone food trucks) where you can feed 2-3 people for $20.

STCL is so weird. They are a private lawschool charging big boy bucks and they can't build a parking garage. Their regents/board must still not believe in downtown, and that this development is cyclical, thus the street parking and the random, non-STCL lots they force the students into will never go away. Nice library though, I really enjoy doing work there from time to time.
The strangest thing is how this has gone through multiple administrations to no avail.

Oh man, I haven't had Thundercloud since I moved from Austin in 2009. That needs to be remedied.

It makes way more sense for the rail line to be on the boundary of the project, as opposed to through the middle of it. That said, it seems like the lot is a bit too small for all those buildings. It looks lovely though and I'm all for more dense projects, so fine by me.

Unless these buildings are tiny, does this plan imply that the ROW in the middle of the project is the existing (and very active) rail line? If so, does that mean that Phase 1 is abutted against the Gas Station and Subway?
Hard to imagine that this would all be fit between Navigation and the rail line.

How does a car dealership get a liquor license? Shouldn't that be illegal?
Pretty sure it's fine, just the same as bars have parking lots.

I suspect the "infamous fence" is going to be a privacy wall/sound barrier against the light rail. That or to keep kids from playing along the rail line.
