Micro-grocer going in at The Plant. "Little Red Box". If you live in the neighborhood or frequent the area, Jeff Kaplan posted a survey he's asking those that would patron the store to fill out.

    His post:

"Hi all! Will y’all please consider taking a min to fill this survey out? https://forms.gle/ian1LWxUYwQQWdhv6 Little Red Box is a micro-grocer distribution retail concept that will launch in the 2nd Ward at the Plant (Harrisburg and Sampson), we are hoping in the next several weeks.. aiming to provide cleaner food to an under-served community that currently find themselves in “food desert” in the middle of the Covid crisis. By providing grocery delivery and/or nearby grocery pick-up to low-access areas, Little Red Box intends to offer a limited yet highly relevant product assortment, layering in a nudge toward healthfulness (meal planning & recipes), and engaging/empowering individual communities around physical access points. Please take a few minutes to fill out the following survey in order to help us to effectively cultivate your overall future experience and fulfill our community’s specific grocery needs during the Covid crisis and for the future vitality of our neighborhood. Please share with others in our community as well! Stay healthy"

It's only been about 18 months, but guess what? Little Red Box appears to be "opening soon." I took the survey ages ago and just got an e-mail with a link to this today:

Just picture this area; trees, landscape, and developments like RH replacing the ugly warehouses, the city starts doing boat tours, etc.

Yeah, good luck replacing those warehouses, lol. Those are worth more money than you could ever make of residential housing. Not to mention that, as @Naviguessorcorrectly points out, that right there is the lifeblood of the city. No port, no Houston.

Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a little, but not that much.

  3. What, y'all aren't hype for a 12.125 acre Joe's Crab Shack and bulldozing the Pruitt garage for valet parking?! Come on!

All jokes aside, as a UH alumni, obviously I love Tillman, but I agree that many of his ventures don't seem like a natural fit in the neighborhood. But hey, maybe they are branching out and diversifying their portfolio.

Also, @Moderators, can we please move all the Olshan/Pruitt/Tillman rumor posts into the existing Olshan thread over in the East End sub?

    Wait, signs are bad now?

This one in particular seems to be directly above/in front of the leasing office/tenants' lobby, so it actually helps you quickly see where that is as opposed to the retail. Seems just about perfect to me.

I see people and delivery drivers walk around wondering where on earth the entrance is all the time, so, yeah, I think it's in a good spot.

  5. Hah, Eadough pastries. Alright, you got me in for one visit at least.

That said, I found this bit of showboating a bit interesting: "Having spent years in a 2 Star Michelin rated kitchen in New York, Kripa has a caliber of experience not found in the Houston food scene." I think Daniel Bludorn, the entire staff of Le Jardinier, the chef at Nobie's, and others would like to have a word with her.

(Also, I don't think Michelin bragging gets you too far in Houston)
