  1. That is the Salmeron Clinic. Not owned by the city. Mr. Salmeron's son owns and maintains it nowdays, but it hasn't been open in about a decade. No idea why he didn't sell...
  2. That is something you have to consider. A lot of pedestrian and bike traffic in the area. And again, soon to be even more once Forth is complete (and presumably even more once The Mill is underway/finished).
  3. @IronTiger the current intersection is absolute cancer. You current have a 4-way intersection which, because of the 45 degree angle of the Navigation bend and Jensen, ends up actually being an 8-signal intersection as the left turns aren't properly aligned, so they have their own sequence. Add in the stoplight on the Navigation to Navigation right turn, and you technically have a 9-sequence light for a four-way intersection. It's also important to note that the amount of traffic going from Runnels to Navigation or Jensen is usually 1-3 cars, per cycle, max. The traffic from that side is negligible, but they have their own part of the cycle. Unless you can realign the interesetion into a grid (which you can't), the *only* way to improve it is to add a continuous flow roundabout. I don't care if it's only one lane, anything that keeps this from being a 5 minute light is function over form. Especially when you add in a new 400 unit apartment complex right at the intersection.
  4. Yes, I believe that streetcar is called "desire." I'll show myself out.
  5. Jensen is being resurfaced from Clinton to Navigation. Unsure if it is related to East River, the Navigation/Jensen/Runnels roundabout project, or just regular construction work. Regardless of what it's for, resurfacing Jensen is appreciated.
  6. Jensen is being resurfaced from Clinton to Navigation. I spoke to the construction crew which said that all they are working on is resurfacing and that they are unaware of any plans to turn the Navigation/Jensen/Runnels intersection into a roundabout. However, there were COH and EEMD supervisors with the crew. I wasn't able to talk to them as they were all on the phone. I had recently seen survey crews on site with markers placed at the intersection. Hopefully they are working on both at the same time...
  7. 100% agree. Completely shocked me. Way better than Corky's. I'll hold my congratulations until I try the morning coffee and beignets, but so far so good.
  8. The website boasts "18,000 SF of retail space for a restaurant and café. On-site amenities will include a rooftop pool, fitness center, yoga studio, resident coworking space, and a sky lounge with views of Downtown Houston." I suppose it's possible that the 18,000sqft are split by both street faces. Also, I noted that the former Alamo Tamales building now has "Live at Forth" drawings all over.
  9. Ah, I saw the surveyors too, just didn't manage to ask what they were surveying. Thanks for letting us know!
  10. Not since May, 2019. The RFQ went out in May. https://www.eastenddistrict.com/wp-content/uploads/Navigation-Roundabout-RFQ.pdf EEMD says this about it: In September of 2018, the East End District entered into an advanced funding agreement with TxDOT that consists of the engineering and reconstruction of the intersection at Navigation Boulevard, Jensen Drive, and Runnels Street to include an urban roundabout, pedestrian elements, streetscape and bus stop improvements. Additionally, the District hopes to include a public art installation on the roundabout and funding has been secured for public engagement related to this installation. Public engagement and design are forthcoming. No funding source for public art on the roundabout has been identified at this time.
  11. Ah, my bad. I couldn't remember which Memorial Park/Buffalo Bayou thread had the bike path discussion. Delete if y'all want.
  12. "Forth at Navigation" banners and signage up at the property. Will try to take pics when it's not dark AF.
  13. It's been a while since we talked about the hike and bike trails, but...the fence on the west side of Jensen is now open. Looks like the new bike route through clayton homes to the downtown trailheads and out to the East End is open.
  14. Speaking of...the fence on the west side is now open. Looks like the new route through clayton homes to the downtown trailheads is open.
  15. Seconded. I agree with @I'm Not a Robot that it may be a nod to "Navigation," but I don't know. What really grinds my gears however, is the fact that it is also Marquette's fourth property (Catalyst Chicago, Catalyst Houston, The Mason (Chicago), and the "Forth").
  16. I ride and run East of Jensen fairly often (from Jensen to Tony Marron park) without issue ever. Only one encampment that I've ever seen and it's pretty deep in the "woods." The dead-end on the west side, where this happened, is quite different though...
