  1. Sadly, the tree is gone. Maybe if we had those Greenpeace protesters tie themselves to this instead of the bridge...
  2. Not to come off as a too tree huggery, but that tree is one of my favorite things in the neighborhood. It's absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely staying for now...the workers have been taking breaks under it. I hope they find a way to keep it.
  3. Today's work involved clearing off the trees, fences, and a good chunk of the land. I'll post again next time there is some major step forward, but let me know if y'all want more pics sooner/throughout.
  4. Leftover bartenders and a straggler. I came by as they were cleaning up. Someone actually put a photo up on the big board in the pic later. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow morning if there is something new.
  5. Construction fence went up this morning, I'll try and get a picture on my way home. They are also starting on electrical work, hopefully burying the lines.
  6. Scheduled to open "November 2019, hopefully" according to their website. Their website is a bit improved since last time.
  7. They demolished my house in this drawing! All jokes aside though, interesting that EEMD, or the developer of the roundabout, whoever made the drawing, would have renderings of the new buildings (both of Marquette's) but not incorporate them in their presently designed form.
  8. Thanks for sharing! I would love to see that happen. I was actually talking about the current bike paths BBB has, and the new bridges they are building to connect the trails just east of DT. But I suppose if they go with the canal approach, all of the existing bike paths and such out east would have to move.
  9. Couldn't agree more. Wouldn't mind seeing the Silos become part of a dog park, but I imagine most of the amenities will now be on the northern bank of the Bayou where East River is going up. If you drive up Jensen right now from Navigation, or up McKee towards i10, you can see that a lot of the renovated bike paths are on the north side of the Bayou. That said, there already are pretty new trails on the southern bank, so, I'm not sure what the long-term outlook is there. Maybe once Clayton Homes is demolished they will be able to unblock that portion of the trail and have the trail connect to the Downtown portion of the BB trail on the southern bank.
  10. Checked it out Sunday. Definitely worth it before an Astros/Dynamo game. The walk is so short.
  11. Oh, I totally agree. I should have specified earlier about lifting. I think given that you know where the water will absolutely peak, a foot of lift is probably enough for due diligence. No need to put it on stilts or anything...
  12. I too imagine they will have to build the site up. I live around the corner and took pictures and video of the site. Unfortunately, the only thing I have from the time of peak flood was a video, so I can't post it here. That said, this pic shows the other side of the Jensen bridge. As you can see, the water made it just a little shy of the bike path.
  13. I live across from this development. Construction crews were on site yesterday. Said they will begin in "2-3 weeks." Basically right after the new variance request is approved.
