  1. So in the chron article they talk about how you could drive on the other side of the seawall? Am I reading this right?

    How did that work?

LeBlanc recalled that drivers could once exit Texas 3005 on a ramp at the end of the seawall and drive onto the beach. Those beaches eroded decades ago, and the ramp has been barricaded.

It's at the west end of Seawall Blvd before it turns into San Luis Pass Rd on msn live maps birds eye view you can clearly see the ramp is baricaded and no signs of a drivable beach.

  2. I checked it out on Friday afternoon...too salty for my taste. Too salty even for my wife, and that's saying something.

To make up for that, I had to go over to #1 Chicken and Rice on Almeda on Saturday. :)

I also noticed Navy Seafood is opening up (or has opened up) a new location on Scott around Seabrook or so. It's just outside South Union. I wonder if the new location is a replacement for the one on Scott at Holman (by UH). The Scott at Holman location is going to be taken by METRO for the SE Line.

I may have mentioned it before, but it's interesting to say the least that, according to METRO's schematics, the SE Line will take the "undesirable" properties, but weave around the more desirable ones. For instance, the SE Line will take the gas station at Scott and Elgin, the Lexus Inn (or whatever it is), the Popeyes, and the Navy Seafood, but as you continue down the street (on the next block), it won't touch the South Philly Steaks, or the new fast food places and new shopping center on Scott.

Maybe just a matter of property value, but maybe not?

Yea my girlfriend calls it "GHETTO" food, and she jokes That Im used to that GHETTO food!!! :D:D . Yea I noticed that about the schematics, money talks I guess.

  3. Which is why I exactly said outside of the Houston area. If you do go outside of the Houston area, you will rarely here that from Cowboy fans. I just find it funny how Texan fans have the Cowboys as one of there top rivals yet Cowboy fans do not think of the Texans as rivals at all. In fact, the Texans have the Cowboys as one of their top 5 rivalries while the Cowboys have the Texans outside of the top 10.

This isn't a diss to the Texans because I actually root for them when they aren't playing the Cowboys. But it's still weird yet funny to see the hatred be so one-sided.

Thats probably because we did not have a team for five years and the Texans and Cowboys do not play that many meaningful games. Im sure if they were in the same division it would be diffrent.

  4. Curious as to will the SE line run to the intermodal or will it be a transfer to the Red line. I believe I read somewhere it was supposed to go to the intermodal, but with it now being LRT I was wondering if it would be like the Uptown/ U line where they could go on one anothers tracks?

  5. Totally off topic, but how's that fish market on the other side of MLK? New Orleans Fish Market, I believe?

I eat there quite often as matter fact during lunch. The prices are good and I enjoy the food. Very nice people that run that shop!!

  6. I think the rockets are gonna do some great things this upcoming season with the addition of Steve francis. Having several key star players are the reason why the Lakers were such a great team for a while. As for the new floor, its definitely an improvement but I just wish they'd change up the color and add more coloring than just red and white. kinda boring!

Ive seen the court in person before and after and I believe it is a great improvement from the old red court which to me in comparison seemed blah.

  7. Have you heard anything more about Metro's plans for the area? Are they taking land from the shopping center, or heaven forbid, are they going to take the entire shopping center?

It seems like the schematic plans showed that there would be a train station where the Shell Station is now, but I could be making that up...

No they kept us pretty much updated and I talked to gentleman who owns the gas station in the middle of Mlk. He said that they are going straight down the middle of that wide median where MLK splits, and he has no choice but to let them bulldoze. Its sad because I will miss that gas station as I always walk across the street to buy snacks and drinks during the work day. I think this will be great especially seeing how I watch cars all the time go the wrong way on MLK right where it splits at that Shell station.

  8. Did any one watch the Dynamo Real Salt Lake game. I was watching the AlCS and was flipping through my guide and saw the Dynamo were playing and as soon as I put it on Stuart Holden scored the game's lone goal in the 66th minute it was awesome which means the Dynamo moved to within one point of the Western Conference leading Chivas USA -- and the two teams play each other Saturday evening at The Home Depot Center. The winner of that game would hold home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and for any potential conference championship game for a berth in MLS Cup 2007.

  9. I think the scott option would have more ridership and would stop by the revitalized intersection of Scot & OST, but I believe there is more oppurtunity to develop along MLK as there is vacant land along MLK especially @ OST and MLK across from Macgregor park. They just finished a bunch of Mcmansions on MLK right before Griggs.
