  1. I think some people trip too much, I say go for it, even if it wnt look ne thing like the Old Dome. I would still like to take my kids up there one day and say I remember going to Astros & Oilers games there and not to mention the HOUSTON LS&R. I can agree maybe not the best theme,(It seems fine to me especially after seeing the Gaylord photos) but why tear it down when we are still paying off the last expansion.

  2. I work on Mlk @ Ost and today a women representing metro solutions stoped by to discuss the possible alternate alignment( coming down Wheeler st to Mlk to griggs and to stop @ PAlm Center. I must admit I am a little worried because when they built spur 5 and rebuilt ost along with that it affected our buisness, quite a bit, seeing as that you could not get to our parking lot from Ost.

Also im curious because Mlk Splits probably for a quarter of mile as you get to ost. If the brt/lrt goes down Mlk On the eastside it probably would not affect our buisness as much. Im not against rail, actiually im excited seeing that once they get rail down 290 I could catch a train straight to work and back.

From what the woman told me is Metro has Had alot of opposition from the Houses down scott st, which has made metro take a look at these alternates. Also she said that more riders would use it if it were to go down scott to griggs which I agree. She really did not take one side by giving positives from both. I have been in this area for a while now at least 15 years. From what I see the south east has prob the most metro riders in houston, thus I think it would be more feasible to go down scott. I am a lil worried not mad if they come down Mlk. She said they are having a meeting in August, not sure what date, but I will be sure to post as they have put me on a mailing list.

  3. I'm not sure if it will get built but it won't be because of San Jacinto Jail or Baker street jail. That canal will go behind SAn Jacinto and Baker street right were the Metro BUS Barn is. Which is scheduled to relocate sometime in the future according to the BBMP.

  4. Is there a commuter rail line running between Austin and San Antonio?

As of now not yet, but it is in the plans from the article I read on chron.com to be ready by 2008-2009 wich i find hard to believe.

"The statewide plan allocates nearly $12.4 billion for highway, rail and public transportation and aviation improvements across Texas during the next four years, according to a TxDOT press release on the plan.

Projects detailed in the plan include a commuter rail through Austin's metro area, which could be ready by 2008, and an Austin to San Antonio commuter rail line, which could be ready for service by 2009."

  5. Are there any commuter train lines sched to be started and or completed before all light rail lines have been completed?

I do not understand how they could build a commuter rail line from Austin -San Antonio before they could build a short line from Downtown Down the Hempstead Corridor. Albeit, the traffic can be heavy traveling down I-35 from SA to ATX vice versa. Traffice here is worse and we already have the right away, and I dnt think UP would mind as long as TXdot builds grade seperated crossings at the rail lines. Txdot has done similar things with Hardy Toll Road y Loop 1 in ATX (Mopac BLVD), I would think Metro could get on board with this. Opinions?

  6. I think they should just do it already. People are going to have to agree to disagree. I hear all the time the city is shortsighted and has terrible planning. True, but then as soon as someone has a vision or the city plans to do something, I start hearing They need to keep it simple start slow.

  7. What are the possibilities of this development getting Metro and the city to actually build the Inter-Modal station and commuter lines prefarbly down US 290/ Hempstead. If they would build a commuter line down 290 and have bus tranfsers at the Inter-modal and/or Downt Town that would be good enough to get me out of my car.

  8. THATS GREAT NEWS NOW IF YOU COULD USE YOUR MAGIC TOUCH AND GET THEM STARTED ON THE INTERMODAL STATION, BECAUSE THE GREYHOUND AND AMTRAK STATIONS ARE A BIT INTIMIDATING TO PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT FAMILUAR WITH HOUSTON. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM ALL TOGETHER IN A NEW GRAND STATION.
