  1. And why do people buy these cookie cutter houses? Because that's all the builders offer at their price point, or because they really like them? I can understand wanting a new house, but I can't understand the popularity of all the new houses out there. Seems like buyers hands are tied. If you want a new affordable house you have to forego all sense of taste. And that's another reason we live in a 50 year old house.

It comes off a bit narrow-minded of you to presume that all these houses you have never been in are cookie cutter or at a low price point. It may seem obvious to you that these new homes lack what is usually defined as character in a house but I find these qualities to be subjective. You presume that buyers hands are tied because they do not want to live where you do or in the type of house that you like. This is folly and quite arogant of you.

perhaps you should broaden your own perspective more to at least include granting others there own opinions without declaring that they are fools or beggars.

  2. I used this as my first opputunity to get into the election season. I haven't even paid attention to this point as to who the candidates are and where they stand.

After watching the debate I am dumbfounded that Guliani is leading the pack for the nomination, obviously it's early, but I don't think he represented well.

I think he was poor at comprising his thoughts and answering the questions. Every answer he gave started with how he cleaned up, rebuilt, or rescued New York. I believe he was also not forthcoming on his real position on the gun control issue I think he lost points there. In my mind he came off as the least presidential I just have a hard time seeing it.

  3. Uptown Park could more than support a Mi-Luna. As for a more Residential area, the town square area in Sugar Land is probably a winner. I don't see Katy locations really doing much considering the bulk of the population out there, if they go out, go to places like Chili's. It could be argued that there isn't really an upscale option out there for any market to take advantage of. But I'd still go for Uptown Park or Sugar Land town square before I'd go anywhere near Katy

What an strange comment by you.

People in the Katy area only go out to eat at chili's, huh!

Are you remotely aware of the quality development and residenial development that is growing on the west side of town?

I just wonder where this sentimate is coming from. What does the "bulk of the population out there" mean?

To answer the original poster's question. I would agree with the poster who mentoned the area around LaCenterra on the Grand Parkway anywhere, or within a five mile radius to neighborhoods such as cinco ranch, seven meadows, grand lakes, kelliwood, etc. You know finacially thinking where the people with some disposible income are living. In my mind the closer to I-10 you get as well the more potential for a bigger lunch crowd, considering the amount of office space and retail space existing and planned for the next several years.

  4. The fact that some of you already think it's a law exposes that this PC fud has already been ingrained in your head by the media.

Every damn reality show be it MTV road rules, real world, whatever.

    Every amazing race season,

    every season of survivor,

    every big brother, etc...

throwing in a homosexual into a group of 6 to 12 people, forcing others to react and look like supposed fools on Tv.

We know that these are not real representations of the mix of society, yet we gobble it up until it is etched in our pchyce.

  5. I am not sure I like this, not good? Not on it's face but on the premise it sets. I am not for discrimination. I know there are a lot of homosexuals on this board and I will take heat but thats OK. I want to respect the rights of others, ie. leave them alone to do their own lives, but I personally have a hard time relating homosexuality to anything but choice. I really don't want to bait or get into an arguement about it, because we know my mind or yours will not change. I have tried to inform myself on my opinion by reading on both sides of the aisle.

I feel based on my beliefs on the origin or cause of homosexuality that the movement to allow and establish civil and other rights to homosexuals sets a precident that opens up the possibility for the same establishment possible for other (you are going to hate this) fringe groups that are not (in my belief) born with something (inalienable) that by law already guarantees rights not already established.

Basically unless there is scientic proof, an accepted consesus, proof that homosexuality is not chosen and is not deviant behavior, I'll continue Ithink believing this way.

  6. Granato has had his own show for a while now on what I think is 1350 the Game. I think you're right. His knowledge isn't that great, but I used to love him a long time ago when he was doing highlighs on 51.

And actually, Lance joined Granato on his show full time this past week. So they're back together.

    correction

it's 1560 the game. from 7 till 11 weekday mornings

  7. I was in high school, but now well I'm at A&M and my proffessor told me that this is a new trend. This is 100% accurate Dr. Bame at A&M...does any one know her?

    1. You are not an Urban planner.

    2. Good to know you were in High school. I had my doubts.

    3. Did you look up that professors name up online? you just said you were at A&M but in this thread you said you lived in Morton Ranch.

at least keep your stories straight.

I don't mean to attack you but your posts have a history of being a tad ridiculous and juvenile.

I agree borders, or some other book store, (I like Barnes and Nobles), would fit better in La Centerra or in the proposed mall.

  8. To me...the north side of katy is getting more high-end stores and restaurants...because diversity attracts them....all the new stuff is going on in katy..like the new memorial hermann katy hospital....the grand mall..gardens westgreen........and more to come.

So you are saying diversity attracts high end retail? Oh, and diversity is the reason for the new hospital in Katy also!

This defies logic to me could you explain, or give examples.

    Or nevermind.

Glad to see a roadhouse coming in here.

I'd like to thank the illegal immigrants in the area for their contributing to the new Hooters being built in the Katy area too.

  9. Let's step back a minute. I've been anti Vince Young since the beginning, after all I am an Aggie. However, regardless of his stats, you have to admit that the guy knows how to win. It may be ugly, it may be unorthodox, but the guy can lead a team and win. I would take his "it" factor over many other QBs with better ratings. With Young on the field you just never know what can happen and can never count his team out. And that's hard for me to say.

Ahh waiting for this one. The majical IT factor.

The Titans defense is what wins games for them. ala the Bears in spite of Rex Grossman.

Pacman Jones won more games last year for them than VY.

I do think Jeff Fisher and Norm Chow are some of the best at preparing their teams for Sunday.

If Only we had that kind of effort here. Go Texans.

  10. Hey guys, just wanted to start a general thread about my new and expensive hobby, photography. i know there are a lot of talented photographers on this site and i hoped to hear from more experienced shooters.

i bought my first dslr, and nikon d40 2 months ago on editors recommendation (i was interested mostly in photographing people.) since then i have bought a 1.8 50mm and a sb800 flash. now i am drooling over a d300 and a 2.8 17-55mm lens. ugh how did this happen?

anyways, please share your gear, favorite books, locations, or anything. i am trying to learn as much as i can

I have a D80 I picked up last year and have tried to find more time to get into the hobby. This is my first DSLR also and I have a lot to learn about photography I also picked up a sb800, a great compliment. I have the nikor 18-55 kit lens that came with it and a zoom lens a 55-200mm. So far I really enjoy nature/ landscape photography. I took a trip last spring to brazos bend state park and got some great pics. And this summer i went to utah/colorado/arizona/new mexico and saw Zion, the painted desert/slot canyons/mesa verde(canyon dwellings), and much more. I'd like to get a nice wide angle lens as I borrowed one for my last trip and it was nice.
