  1. I live in the Cinco Ranch area.  I have driven this section 3 times since it opened.  Once to the outlet malls and twice as a route to North Texas, Dallas and Possum Kingdom.  That worked quite well allowing me to avoid all of 45 and the beltway south of Madsonville big time saver too.

  2. Ok forgive me because I was born in 76 so I was truly a child of the 80's bad hair, clothes, everything. We lived off Reveille/35 just outside the loop very near Gulfgate mall. My world was pretty small then, so here is what I recall as cool in Houston at the time for me.

    1. Astroworld - back in it's prime.

    2. Gulfgate Mall - cool things. The bowling alley under the mall. The Vision Street Wear store. the theater with the pedestrian bridge over 610.

    3. NASA - was a cool tour back then before they built SCH.

    4. Stewart Beach in Galveston.

    5. Putt Putt and Supertrack on I-45 south - arcade!

  3. Now that I've had most of the week to calm down, the ending was okay. I'm still not happy with it, but I'll take it for what I paid for it.

I have noticed though in the last week more and more blogs releasing start to finish guides that explain most of the mysteries that seemed unanswered. I'm sure if I started over watching the show now, many things would make more sense.

Do you have a link to one of these start to finish guides?

  4. Exactly the same with me. Season one I figured it was purgatory but the producers of the show denied it. I have been watching for 6 years waiting to figure out what the numbers meant etc, but they decided to be lazy and say they were all dead. It was kind of depressing knowing that all these years the people I have been watching were dead. Although they all went to Heaven I don't consider it a happy ending. Dead is depressing no matter how you look at it.

Here is something I might be confused on, is the island purgatory?

What did not being able to get pregnant on the island have to do with anything?

If they were already dead on the island how did some of them die again?

If Miles Straume was born on the island, does that mean he was never born?

What did the Dharma Initiative have to do with anything? Or how does it tie in with the ending?

    HELP me better understand this!

You need to go back and watch the finale again, or part of it. Check out the last 15 minutes again. Specifically the conversation between Christian Shepard and Jack. They did not die on the island, well some of them did, but not in the plain crash. Everything that happened on the island was real. Jack died in the finale. some of the other people died before him (Juliet, Sun and Jin, Shannon, Boone, Chollie, etc.(and after him) like the people that left the island on the Ajera plane(Sawyer, Kate, Miles, etc.) Also Hurley and Ben stayed on the island presumably for a long time before dying. They were all in a purgatory (sideways world off the island(LA) waiting for each other.

I was overall let down that some of the mysteries and mythology kind of faded away in importance over the last season, but LOST has always been more character driven and full of spiritual seeking (man of faith vs. man of science) to me. And on that level it did not dissapoint.

  5. I have lived in Houston, Pearland, or the Katy area my entire life. I currently live in the Katy area. I call I-10 just that I-10 (east or west)

The only names I think I use are "the Loop" for 610 and usually with a direction. And "the beltway" for belt-8. Also the Grand Parkway for 99.

I have never used Eastex or North freeway. And 99% of the time I say I-45 north or south instead of the Gulf freeway. The only time I hear the gulf freeway and Katy freeway used is for advertisment or address distinctions.

  6. I have a friend that moved into the Heights area that had his door kicked in the other night. His kids were in bed, his wife yelled at him to get a gun, he was already loading it. they must have heard this and took off. He says they heard them on the portch giving a countdown to kick in the door, like an are you ready? He has been there less than a month, this is very scary for him and his family. I just wanted to warn everyone to be aware of your surroundings.

  7. So what are the names of some of those churches or agencies that come from the middle of nowwhere and feed the homeless? Who can we call?

I don't see how charity and good will has anything to do with comic relief. I don't know where the middle of "nowwhere" is? But I go to Second Baptist church westside campus. It is between Fry and Barker Cypress on I-10. Monthly our class tries to find a mission to help out be it feeding the hungry, providing shoes for people around the world, toys for children, etc. you get the point. I help out in ways that I can.

I think there are better ways of improving the area where you live than to chatise those that are trying to serve those in need.

  8. We will probably know the outcome after the first quarter. There hasn't really been any really close games and in every game of this series you could anticipate who was going to win after the first quarter.

Yes the team that has won the first quarter has won every game.

  9. wow what a big big Game 1 win in LA for our Houston Rockets!!!!

we played pretty well but frankly, LA lost that game, they did not seem like the Lakers ive seen so much of this season.

a win is a win and ill take it anyway we can get it =]

It's because of the Rockets team defense. Thats five straight games holding thier opponents under 92 points. So yes LA lost the game because the rockets stopped them and scored more than them.

  10. Just wanted to see if you guys still watched LOST.

I have a few questions maybe you all can answer.

Who was shooting those fire spheres?

What happened to the other survivors like Rose and Bernard?

I presume the island natives (hostiles) were the ones shooting the flaming arrows. But who knows with LOST.

I tend to think Rose & Bernard must have went through the same time shifts as everyone else on the island so they should be somewhere in 1977. If they were with the Dharma initiative we would have seen them by now. Maybe they are held up with the others or hostiles. I have heard the theory that they are dead in the cave and the very 2 skeletons found back in season 1 called Adam and Eve.

  11. I was at the meeting last night (yeah I know I'm not a SCR resident, but what the heck). The statistic they announced was that in 2007 the Pearland PD responded to 2,500 calls from SCR. In 2008, they only responded to 2,250 calls from SCR. So from that decrease it's logical to state crime dropped (or is it?).

As for the overall increase in crime in Pearland as a whole, I think it's exactly what you said - increased population. At the meeting, the police did not speculate on why the overall increase is occurring.

It is more complicated than increased population.
