  1. 1. I think we can all agree discrimination is bad. (I don't think anyone claimed this)

    2. If I have to tolerate something or someone it is a nuisance.

If you want to live with other's like yourself than just get on with it.

Hell as a middle class white anglo saxon bigot , I did.

Seriously though, I think this city is progressive enough that you would feel comfortable in any of the afore mentioned neighborhoods.

Spend as much money as you can. Yeah debt!!

And don't sacrifice your family's security or education for selfish reasons.

  2. Last time I went to a relative's house in Cedar Park, coming in on 71, I took the 130 toll north to the 45 toll west to the 183A toll north to cedar park. that was a lot of tolls. Might have saved me 15,20 minutes maybe,

  3. This reinforces my belief that the Republicans have already written off this election and are rebuilding behind the scenes for their next shot. (As is Hilary) The official party platform is squarely at odds with McCain on key issues. They're just holding their noses and waiting for the stinky cloud to pass.

    This is a silly presumption

Barrack Obama was just as much an unknown on the national scene not that long ago.

I am overjoyed that it is not Romney and is a fresh younger face to go with the old man into battle.

I have to admit that she is easy on the eyes.

  4. You're right. It may all backfire on him. It all depends on whether a majority of Americans are hopeful for a cleaner, more peaceful and world leading United States, or whether a majority of Americans have given up, accepting endless wars, declining wages and no insurance as the future of a broken nation.

I honestly do not know which group of Americans is larger. I only know which group I wish to identify with.

Spoken like a politician, without true regard for the opposite parties' viewpoint as you know it is, instead twisting it into an almagation of things that are half truths and fears.

  5. Before my friends in the East San Antonio suburb of 5 Ranches start begging for Whole Foods or Central Market start looking into what demographics and traffic patterns both of those require. You'll note that the South Dallas master planned community of the Woodlands doesn't even have either of these stores. So why would they build either in East San Antonio first. The closest to Central Market you can hope for is HEB Plus with the unfinished garden center. FYI, that store is a performance disappointment even though HEB will never admit it, they just adjust merchandise until they hit the correct demographic mix.

Another Kroger and another BB&B? Damn, how many of those do you folks want out there? And another Walgreen's. Yes the 1960's are returning but instead of gas stations it will be Walgreen's and CVS on every corner at every major intersection.

If gas prices and foreclosures keep up with current trends you better watch out for Foodarama and Food Town. Those are more affordable and in line with coming demographics for your area.

And just so you know......in case moving so far from reality has made you loose humor.....read the post with a bit of whit and tongue in cheekness.

From your Tongue in cheek" comments I assertain that you have an issue with sprawl but you seem surprised that we want more retail and grocery stores. You see as some see it, the more they build quality retail and grocery stores closer to home the further we have to drive, thus reducing gas dependance and Shocking! encouraging walkability and sense of community. Also, someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe that there was a smaller specialty grocery planned for phase II of La Centerra, possibly Whole Foods.

  6. Just an update for those not local. I know looking at the radar it looks like we are getting pounded, however here on the west side of town we are getting a light drizzle since 7:00 AM this morning with 4 mph gusts. (I am at Westheimer and Wilcrest in the Westchase district)

Anyone else care to update the action where they are at?

  7. I had my first child last year he is 8 months today. That said I haven't been to the theatre since late last year. I miss it big time. It is time to do it. Question is, which was better Iron Man or TDK?

  8. He was a failure even before being re-elected. Anyone that voted for him a second time should never be allowed to vote again.

ne of the best reasons to vote for Bush was to keep Gore and Kerry out of office.

  9. Many thanks for this document. I have to agree that those 2012/2023 dates are just not realistic. Those projects better move up the list fast.

Meanwhile I see that SH35 will be a tollway when they finally do it. Have we seen the end of freeways in Houston? Where are we? New York?

I was just saying to the wife the other day, that we will be saying Remember back when freeways were free?

  10. I had a 12 monthe contract end with First Choice power about 2 months ago. I didn't think about it, but they moved me to their month to month plan. first month on that KW usage rate went to .19 took 6 weeks to get off of their plan. then it went to .22. We have had bills of $330 and now $470 in the meantime. We have now moved to month to month with Reliant at .15 right now. What little I know about it I would not sign up for a contract right now while the rates are the highest (peak summer) And I would watch for when the contract expires and see what your options are when that happens. This sort of thing has happened to 3 people I work with also. Hope this helps.

  11. This is not confined to the Katy area we have clients building apartments all over the Houston area. All those people who cannot afford to get into a house now with tighter lending practices and the current "economic downturn" are bound to have to live somewhere.

  12. Yep, it is unfortunate that this Berry Hill is a poor representation of the others in the city. It seems once a restaurant makes it west of Barker Cypress it goes downhill. Most people in Katy don't expect or know what good food is, so they can get away with marginalizing their product once they move west. Pulcinella on Fry and Grand Parkway is an exception to this rule.

What the %$#@ is this. Only on the internet do people think they can get away with ludicris statements like this. Welcome to HAIF, by the way. Let me get this straight though, just because I live in the Katy area I don't know what good food is. Or I shouldn't expect good food!!!! This area isn't full of Appalachia hillbillies.

Have you even been to this location? I have been to several, and I think the food is great here.

  13. I think most people who live in the suburbs and commute into Houston are aware that their gas prices are going to be high. Maybe not as high as they are now, but that's how it goes. That said I think the real genius of developers is the way they have convinced buyers that as far as houses go, the only thing that matters is size. Not quality, not location, nothing but size. And the houses in the suburbs are certainly bigger, dollar for dollar, than inside the loop. But they are very cheaply built. You live in one for a while and you realize that the developers have cost-cutting down to a literal science. EVERYTHING in my house is cheap. Cheap fixtures, cheap cabinets, siding on the sides and in the back (but not on the all important facade of course), cheap carpet, inadequate air-conditioning, it's all cheap. BUT the house is big. That it certainly is. Therein lies the developers genius. Of course they don't care, you KNOW they don't live here. They're sitting on a beach earning twenty percent.

Don't mean to offend anyone, that's just how I see it.

Dude, all this is on you for buying a cheaply built house that you are obviously not happy with. The onus is on you to do the research on an area and the homebuilder/ quality of materials before making such a large commitment.

And lets please not go to Puma levels of generalizations. Just because your house is the suburbs in cheap (your words) not all of them are. There are a lot of choices of homebuilders in the Houston area and a wide range of price ranges.

If you feel the developers got one over on you than simply put you didn't do your homework.

Not trying to slam you, just the inferance that an apple is an orange because it is round and falls from a tree is getting old.
