  1. So Where are you suggesting this alternate route that would relieve congestion on 290? Halfway between 6 and Belt-8? If there are lots of people commuting to the energy corridor from Cypress, what route are they taking now? Getting to Memorial City and Westchase seem to be served just fine by the beltway.
  2. Again how is this going to help commuters on 290? I don't see where all these cars on 290 are heading into town and then U-turning and heading down I-10 westbound to the energy corridor. I suggest that the GP in theory will have little effect on congestion along 290 nor is that it's purpose. It is part of a loop. For instance does the 610 loop improve traffic commutes traffic on 59 or Hwy 288? That is not it's purpose. Does Beltway 8 relieve traffic on 290 commuters? on 1-10 commuters? The Westpark Tollway relieves traffic congestion on I-10. The Hardy Toll Rd does the same for 45. The expansion of I-10 relieves it's own congestion. A road that heads off a total different direction is a path to another place, not a means of improving congestion for commuters.
  3. Spot On. The Westpark Tollway is just such a thoroughfare for the burbs, and does relieve traffic from I-10. The GP is not a solution to congestion and is not intended to be, it is an access corridor, an outer loop. There is no way someone will come off of 290 down the new segment and in I-10 to save time. And I hate it when people presume everyone who lives in an exburb or a suburb commutes into town, so I won't. I see this as having little to do with commuting.
  4. I used to get it at some after hours club next to Emo's, I can't remember the name.
  5. It is more complicated than increased population.
  6. Since this topic has been bumped, I think in Jeebus's neighborhood, if I am not mistaken, that sidewalks are now installed along the boulevard in his community, also 1464 is finally being widened and will include sidewalks in this portion. I live in Cinco Ranch and I must say it is just not true that we do not have sidewalks that and the trails along bayous and through landscaped pipeline esmts are some assets of living out here.
  7. I fail to see how this will ease any congestion on 290. This right now is just a north south connection for convienance. Sort of a road to nowhere. It may relieve congestion on Mason and Fry roads between 290 and I-10. I wonder if this includes the much needed fly over ramps (east & west) to connect the existing portion of 99 where it intersects I-10
  8. On a ranch that is really closer to Purmela. It's a pretty rare sight I understand.
  9. Saw a cougar (or mountain lion, or puma, what have you) just last November just outside of Gatesville in Coryell county in central Texas. That is far from far west Texas.
  10. Really I am just glad these 3 I mentioned are on the air. I really can not listen to them spout on for long other than Sean Hannity he is a little more mainstream it seems and has a little more humility than the other two I mentioned. I also have enjoyed listening to Joe Pags lately although I do not agree with him all the time he is entertaining and I can tolerate this show a little.
  11. I love the conservative Blow hards, and I love that you guys hate them. I listen to Rush, Hannity, and Michael Savage occasionally, when I am not listening to sports talk radio or Cspan on the way to and from work.
  12. I live in Cinco Ranch, near Westheimer Parkway and Mason and there is a Barnes and Noble bookstore a short 10-12 minute drive away from my house. I think the one at Hwy 6 and Westheimer is why there is not one in the Katy area yet. I would not be suprised to see one built along the I-10 corridor in the future.
  13. Puma, you are a child. By the way, I live in Cinco Ranch and there is a Barnes & Nobles Bookstore 10 minutes from my house.
  14. More than likely they will just find a different 2-lane road with no shoulders
  15. I agree with pretty much everything you said here marmer, I used to drive this are pretty frequently. I will say though that I would be worried about potential development around these houses. I think it is prime land for someone to come in and throw up apartments especially just to the east. And that would be a disaster, I am afraid Pearland, alot of it, is falling prey to the new flight from southeast and south west Houston and it is not better for it.
  16. Ah, right in that case, I do not know what is happening there.
  17. Does anyone know the story on why Pin Oak Rd (south of I-10) was not extended through to Greenbusch Rd.? Looking at Google Earth, you can see the predetermined layout pretty clearly. There is just one tract of land seperating the path of the road right-of-way. This seems to me to be a natural corridor that makes sense and this as well as widening Greenbusch down to where it changes into Westheimer Parkway would relieve some minor traffic delay on these roads.
  18. Is Katy-Fort Bend road the same as FM 1463?
  19. No I haven't done it that way. But I have done it online and I liked the ability to due it anywhere I was online and the fact that I could stop and start at will, and do it at my own pace.
  20. I've stated my opinion, I assume under the current administration, I am still able to do that. Thanks for the beating commissar
  21. And right next to "topic title" is the "forum" tab when using the "view new posts" button. I live out in the Katy area and I grow tired of these posts. We need a bookstore, we need a Chueys, we need a pappasittos, we need a container store. We don't NEED anything. And do you think someone is going to read this forum and say OH, what a great idea let's expand in Katy because Joe Schmoe needs a cafe express within 5 minutes of his house. I don't mean to be a negative nancy, I think it just clutters up the forum. Also I grow tired of reading restraunt reviews on HAIF. People go to ww.b4ueat.com for that please.
  22. I know a guy that just started a fence building business. He is charging 22 a foot for 6' cedar fence. So it would obviously be more for an 8 ft fence. here are some pics of the job he just finished.
