  1. pm daniepwils. He's the last one who had been doing the updating with pictures
  2. So what. Is this project dead? I thought construction was supposed to in the near future. Has anyone heard any promising news?
  3. Yeah, i don't know what the whole point of the rennovation was anyway. It's like they've done nothing at all. It really still looks like the same ol' ugly Exxon Mobil building
  4. Don't get me wrong, i'm very excited and hopeful of Houston Pavilions. I think it will be slightly different from Denver's version because for one: it will be larger. The only thing that i wish Houston has that Denver's has is the movie theatre. I don't think Firstngoal was basing his statement over Denver's residential develpment off Denver Pavilions alone. I guess part of what got me in "the dumps" is the statements saying it will be like another Bayou Place. We all know that place isn't the most happenin' in downtown and i don't want HP to suffer the same fate. I wanna see more people!
  5. Sorry to rain on everyone's parade but ever since this the quoted statement was made, i've wondered if HP will really make a difference downtown Houston. On the other hand, anything like this can only be a positive step for downtown because downtown Houston currently needs some serious help.
  6. does anyone know if they decided to put the residential back in the project?
  7. I don't see how we could get a no when there's been several leases signed and funds secured for the project?
  8. I trust you know what you're talking about seeing you ususally have an inside scoop. But is there any way to confirm this? But, I guess, there was no official article or announcement saying that the former MBar was slated to become a Walgreens
  9. 77017, lets try saying, It will happen, It will happen, It will happen. Houston needs all the positive energy it can get right now. Are you houstonsemipro's alias?
  10. Noooo. Houston development, make him stop. Tell us he's wrong
  11. I agree with Montrose 1100 on how downtown should be a focal point of the city. However although i don't agree with The Niche's points, i still don't discredit them because they are his opinion. I do understand and agree that other neighborhoods need attention but lets face it, downtown is the birthplace and centerpiece of Houston.
  12. Actually, The Denver Pavilions was completed in 1998. But yes you're right, alot of the retail was there even prior to the Pavilions. But i want to be more optimistic. Downtown Denver didn't suffer the same depression downtown Houston did when all the retail that was originally there packed up and went to the Galleria area. The fact is there WAS retail in downtown Houston long time ago, and lucky enough there are still people in Houston that want to preserve history and bring the retail back. Houston has more separate markets to compete with than Denver, but things are changing. Offices are filling up and residents are moving in. I don't know if you read the article but Denton and Jones did not say the residential population was suffering. They just knew that they would have to charge astronomical prices in the units to accodomodate the costs for the construction of underground parking. That is not indicating that the resident population isn't doing well or decent enough to warrant those units. That same thing could've happened anywhere. I guess i'm trying to stay optimistic because for one, Houston will soon be my home for a couple of years. Two, i see alot of potential in Houston and am excited to see projects happen
  13. ^^ An answer to your question. NO. I don't know about Seattle because i've never been. Downtown Denver is the only area in town and does not have competetition like downtown Houston has with Uptown/Galleria. That makes a huge difference. Houston seems more dynamic as a city because of the fact that it has multiple urban/shopping centers, but YES downtown Denver is far more vibrant.
  14. I live only an hour away from Denver and go up there as often as i can. I think you misunderstood what i said in my previous post. I was saying that the Denver Pavilions has done a great job drawing retail in the general vincinity. Such as up and down 16th Street mall and other areas. I wasn't talking about just Denver Pavillions itself.
  15. Dang people really need to quit freaking out. I know i'm guilty of having done it but it was just panic. I was thinking that the thing wouldn't get built. As i said earlier, The Denver Pavilions has done great in Denver with drawing retail and other activity. Denver Pavilions doesn't even have residential over that project. I think retail is the main thing that is needed to lure people downtown. Remember this is progress... A bird in the hand is better than two in the Bush .
  16. Hey everyone. Vance brings up a good point. If there's one article that says that the downtown market is doing well, why would the developers pull out of the residential component alltogether? Oh well, i guess i'm ok with it, as long as this keeps them from having any more set backs. And who's to say they can't add the residential units later?
  17. I don't get it. Maybe i'm a little slow but how does it resemble DFW?
  18. I would rather someone overhype than be negative and jump to conclusions.
  19. i think Kimberly used the term "laxative" loosely. Laxatives get things going (details excluded ). That's what Houston Pavilions needs to get going and running.
  20. Yes, like the original plan had them. Although the idea of building residential units to fill up those surface lots around the block sounds just as good!
  21. You both are right, i think i probably freaked a little. It's just i want SOO much for Houston. I guess Denver Pavilions has come this far and i don't think it even has any residential complexes attached to it Does anyone think that the residential projects might be able to be added back in to the project later, even after its built ..IF the residential population improves?
