Entirely your opinion. Nobody's mad. It's not that big of a deal. Either you are an advocate of better lighting or you aren't. I stand by my original statement though. It seems to create voids. Disagree or not.

I don't feel that i have to have a good reason for feeling the way i feel to meet your expectations. Houston could stand to light itself up more. That's my opinion and my right. You, Niche, and A/F have the right to not understand my view but just respect that I have that same right and not attack me for it.

You're in the wrong trype of city for that my friend. You should be living in a rural, small town if that's what you want. That's almost like saying you want to ride a horse to get everywhere you want to go in a big city.

Seriously!? YES, SERIOUSLY!!! No Niche you give yourself one. Don't try to blow what I said out of proportion. Yes, visitors are attracted to light and flash. I'm not saying that they only look for lit-up buildings but you can't deny that they're not attention-getters, or maybe YOU can. They also serve as landmarks to help navigate around the city.

Well maybe i can't make you care but for example, downtown Houston has got to be one of the blandest looking downtowns in the country at street level due to the stupid ordinance for lack of signs and lighting displays at street level. I'll give credit to Bayou Place, Main Street, Houston Pavilions, and the areas around Discovery Green for doing it but the fact that too much of downtown has no lighting displays at street level creates a giant VOID between these areas. People complain of often feeling unsafe while walking these between voids. Also the lack of skyscraper lighting at night makes downtown look devoid of character. If i was a visitor, I would think the TMC and the Uptown/Galleria area is where the action is at night, definitely not downtown. Downtown sits in a shadow of these areas at night. Even though i'm glad they quit with the cheap white christmas lights, it still looks like a black hole. Please don't make me go there. funny

And that type of reasoning has plagued Houston for years. Not lighting a skyline as powerful, yet, the tallest building could be part of the reason why Houston was overshadowed in the past. You have to have some flash.

I'm actually pretty disapoointed that this development is not going through. And to think what's going in that empty space instead, A new church?? No disrespect to religion but Houston's already too bible ridden. It's not the intriguing awe-inspiring development this Waterlights district would have been. And to the people who thought Pearland of 20 years ago was better than today? Care to share your reasons? Pearland still seems to be an exciting new area off 288.

Today me and my girlfriend went to the Houston zoo for the first time. It was a nicely kept zoo but there seemed to be alot missing from other zoo experiences i had in other cities. The animals seemed to be very miniscule and small. What do they feed these animals? slimfast? Colorado Springs, my hometown has larger animals than Houston in their zoo? Houston needs to step up a litttle

well as far as we all know, its just hearsay for right now. Houston's still listed as an upcoming location on their website. The only question is "when".

^^^Nobody knows. I hope it happens not too long after most of the tennants arrive. I was there last night and I have to admit that things are shaping up. A few new tennants have opened. The Guadalara restaurant looks good but its not open. East downtown Houston is really looking good with the increased foot traffic, Toyota Center Events, and Discovery Green. How's that for complaining Redscare?

So did she give a time frame as when it might become a possiblity? Because i was really looking foward to it. The opening of this thing has kind of been a dissapointment so far. The tennants are coming in phases which wasn't in the plans originally. The lighting is mediocre, no video screens. I thought the developers had big grandiose plans on how the lighting on the circular skyrings was supposed to shoot off in to the night sky? It was supposed to be so stunning, it could be seen from the freeway! I'm sorry to be a complainer but now Lucky Strike Lanes backed up its opening date to April. How long does it take to build a stinkin bowling alley in an already built facility? The opening date keeps getting pushed back further and further.

I'm not too thrilled about this name change. The Discovery Tower name always complimented the park.

I will admit that i may be judging HP a little early. Denver did have a head start on its redevelopment in the early 90s. One thing for sure, Denver Pavilions is a small piece to what the rest of downtown has. 16th Street Mall is the busiest part to downtown.

I agree with your post. I used to live in Colorado and hung out in Denver quite often. I was just there in August and I must say dwntn Houston makes dt Denver look like a mini New York in comparison. The Denver Pavilions does seem like the better development, even though Houston Pavilions is larger. Denver's smart planning with the 16th Street Mall has fostered development on adjacent streets, thus creating an atmosphere that's bustling everywhere. Houston downtown's main center of action and nightlife is around Main Street. I'm a little disappointed that HP doesn't seem to be creating the buzz that we all hoped for. The only way that will happen is if we open up more stores off Main Street! Sorry!

I liked the blue better too but this lighting isn't so bad.
