  1. Seems we now have the *checks notes*, tallest 6 sided building in the world.

This honestly looks great, chase tower always needed some more green around it. Also like the addition of the conference room, and lobby retail. Seems like they're also renovating the sky lobby.  Definitely a great remaster of the big boy.

  2. Holy crap this is huge!

This should be the phase where the towers start popping out. Hoping we get some new renderings pretty soon, or a model like the ones they've been showing. Going off of phase 1's marketing, it should be soon. Also the pedestrian experience will sky rocket with these utterly massive projects.

Anyway, Allen parkway is going to be a huge high rise corridor after these developments are finished. It's gonna be awe-inspiring.

The brochure seems to be gone. Did they already take it down?

Edit: just noticed the “updated” brochure was in a post from 2.5 years ago.

This is the brochure I was talking about. Urb posted it on may 30 2019. It as some pretty niffty information on the retail part of phase 2.

That retail packet you posted on page 23 looks like it had an updated version of this drawing (although a little cut off that is).

It seems to reflect the current ground plan and renderings of phase 2 pretty well, and also shows an additional high rise. It seems like those models shown on page 23 looking at regent square from allen parkway might be close to the final, if not the final plan. Hopefully there's no more changes to it, because I like the plan we have.

  5. article: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/transportation/article/metro-bus-red-light-upgrade-BOOST-houston-15093723.php#photo-19105394

The digital signs are going to be pretty cool, and the other improvements add so much to the service.

    Quote

The 54 Scott and the 56 Montrose/Airline routes will be the first put to the test of as part of Metro’s “Bus Operations Optimized System Treatments” — aka BOOST. The corridors will be decked out with spruced-up bus stops and shelters, bike racks and better sidewalk and trail access where practical. Digital signs at bus stops will give real-time information about when the next bus is coming.

About the new change lights ability:

    Quote

Some of the most striking improvements, however, will be less about what riders can see and more about the technology that will provide buses an advantage by communicating with traffic signals. That could in some locations give the bus extra time to make a changing green light, or hurry through the red-light cycle to decrease the time the bus spends at an intersection...

Metro hopes to make trips faster by putting GPS devices or beacons on buses that communicate directly with traffic lights along the route.

“It allows us to take full advantage of what we can do,” said Andrew Skabowski, Metro’s chief operations officer. “It gives you a lot more freedom and a lot more ability.”

The beacons, also used by fire trucks and ambulances, alert so-called smart traffic signals as they approach. The traffic signal recognizes the beacon on the bus and knows which direction it is traveling and how far away it is.

If the light is green and the bus is on pace to arrive, the signal could keep the green active a few seconds longer to allow the bus to pass through.

In the event a bus arrives at a red light, the signal could quicken the cycle so the bus gets a green light a little sooner.

“Both ways, it gets you a little extra green,” Skabowski said.

On another note if everything doesn't completely go to shit, there might be around 10+ 150m+ towers going up in the next couple years. As the sea of midrises and lowrises take over inner loop Houston.

  7. If they are expanding the ground floor, wonder how high and far they're going to do it. Hope it's something akin to the Texas tower retail, that would be a great addition to this part of Downtown.

Hoping we get some sort of information soon, especially considering it might be a major renovation to the tallest tower in Texas.

It honestly feels like Hines is changing this whole area by itself, it's insane how much they're adding.
