  1. I went to elementary school with his kids...
  2. its odd the randalls off Kirkwood/Wilcrest is still there and that area has seen its best days years ago
  3. Lanier, Bob McNair, a bunch of other River Oaks types were all in it together....Lanier was over the highway commission and it was him or someone close to him who developed Cinco Ranch with the road coming through in due time to profit off of it you look back at that time..there wasn't much in Katy to develop or even waste time developing then as even Highway 6 was way out in the boonies...why not funnel more development into Houston then if you had interests there? That's why monorail was killed...Lanier
  4. again....former pro athletes aren't trained the way the Syracuse grads are....you can hear it in the deliver
  5. Waller residents spend damn near every dollar in Cypress problem is there's no major developments in terms of neighborhoods for a core base...the newer areas in Hockley are closer to Cypress
  6. its free so that's why the big rush...it may change on Jan. 31 when tolls come into play but considering how slow the tollways run in Houston at Rush Hour...it may never be fast until the night hour
  7. Meltzer acts like he's scared of Payne as he rarely contradicts him...similar to that Fred and Ted show at night...its like they let the pro athlete get away with anything...problem with Meltzer is that he tries to be too hard to know football Innes...no comment...horrible..does not fit in with the company line guys at the Texans the rest are not worth even listening to... Can we have a non-former pro-athlete African-American ever get on the airwaves in Houston? One that knows Houston meaning the college scene, high schools, etc...every thing is Texan talk but the local schools are suffering
  8. odd there's a Taco bell within 3 miles either way (Becker and Spring Cypress) along with a Jack-In-The-Box that just opened a few years ago on Spring Cypress..same with Whataburger Olive Garden will clean house out there....
  9. is the town center ready for development? The tractors are working or is it 290 expansion? http://www.simon.com/Mall/LeasingSheet/FairfieldTC.pdf
  10. KCOH was let down by the community it "serviced" but at the same time, KCOH did nothing itself to make it stand out and rely on history which ain't paying bills....Houston is such a sorry radio market KCOH pimped itself as its sad you can pay a few bucks and get prime radio time to peddle your product on their best shows
  11. Bucees is building a real store in Waller so what happens to Mueschke?
  12. There was a lot out there then...but they kept on flying down the street when the area darkened up only to repeat the same thing down Bellfort, Almeda Genoa, etc. to now Pearland
  13. the Chronicle praises her, etc...it's like a crime to attack local personalities in Houston..they're all in the loop together we need real media in Houston...if so-and-so from channel x marries Dr. so-and-so, it's the royal couple and they can't be talked about
  14. I hate how HEB has branded the Joe V to go into minority areas instead of giving them legitimate stores
  15. Fondren and West Airport had one also....good icees..lol
  16. my brothers went there.... HISD is complaining about school costs per student...why not combine them with a low enrollment HISD school and you can justify the cost per student?
  17. There was one in Stafford off Kirkwood or Airport right off 59...Federated was the lead store
  18. If the indians were there first, how come the Anglos get credit for the land? If anything, they stole it...right?
  19. imagine if you're a R&B fan....the corportate statiions play watered down music and there's no FM competition we had more competition in the 80s....Love 94
  20. nothing wrong with the city...if you can find the right area you can both suburban appeal with city amenities But remember also...South Park was a "suburb"...
  21. translation...keep Sunnyside, folks off MLK, South Park from driving over to the hospital as they already shop at Wal-Mart and Kroger off 518 and Cullen
  22. did all those stations have sports such as shows, programming or just covered them for a brief second? Alot of those names are still here now.... Radio was much better in the 80s
  23. When did white flight start happening in droves? Especially on the south side? (I do know Galena Park's whites vanished, North Forest's moved away, Aldine, etc.) but the South side is perplexing Who remembers South Park when it was white? Once the main area off of 610 and MLK (S. Park Blvd.) change, did most whites move south on S. Park Blvd. near Selinksy as I notice the homes further south were made of brick as you went further down the street... as I kid, I remember going to my uncle's house off of Mykawa and Bellfort near Hartman MS...now, it's 80% hispanic and all the businesses are torn down (Yum Yum Pit), Rice When did whites leave Hiram Clarke? Why? I grew up near Hiram Clarke but on the FB County Side off 2234 and Blue Ridge...Willowridge and other schools where white but time I got into the system in the 80s, most vanished.....we had grocery stores, shoe stores, etc. in my area then Same with Fondren but there are still some left as they'll never get what they paid for in homes... My question again is why did some leave especially now when those areas are centrally located to the loop and haven't changed much in some areas? The problem with white flight is that there were alot of areas built overnight and left abandoned in a matter of years.....who allowed apartments to be built next to dream homes in some of those areas? Some left bigger homes for smaller homes in Sugar Land also..
