What's SOWO?

Social work? What the heck kind major is that?
On a more serious note... They may want to consider the star of hope near MMP or the seemingly random locations where that church in katy decides to feed the homeless

If it's a battle of cool the question is where would you live all things being equal?
Given the nature of humans to reproduce, I'd say that alone gives Houston the edge. It's easier and better to raise a family here.

Energy vs Tech? Energy wins. No one goes to war to protect their source of iPhones.
Interesting ... I wonder if anyone has ever gone to war FOR china.

Why did the jumper do this?

Yeah I read that... I'm not sure I'd buy it though.

Looks nice. About time midtown gets some proposals.

Umm.. I guess no one realized the entire side of Market Square Park facing this tower/Kim Son is divided from the rest of the park with a large wall and completely fenced in for a dog park. Do you really want to sit at some sidewalk patio/cafe location and watch dogs take shits across the street from you the whole time? Doesn't seem very appealing to me. I don't think the retail is that bad. I just think they if they don't anchor a large tenant taking up all the northern retail spaces then they will have a hard time leasing the central retail block that lacks any street front connectivity.
You have a point. For this reason alone, I cannot imagine why these *#*#*#*#* dog parks are getting popular and seem to be everywhere these days. Next thing you know, they will allow dogs in restaurants. Ugh.

So typical of METRO. First they lose or waste millions then the lie about the underpass/oeverpass in the east end, and now the FUBAR this too. Thanks METRO!

What's that building to the right of MMP?
-
Impressing people that drive by is not its purpose. The people that work in these buildings care more about how their cubicles are arranged and what is for sale in the deli that what the building looks like to passersby.
I'm in the middle of a move to a newly constructed building in the energy corridor right now. We've been discussing it for months and I've never heard one person in our company mention the architecture of the building. The height of the cubicle walls is a very hot topic though.
You have a point. Most people aren't interested in architecture the way we are.

Yes, I know there is no real need for this to be a trophy tower... but still... I thought there was a rendering that depicted something spherical at the top of a tall structure.

I'm more astounded by your inability to effectively manage your expectations.
Hrm... ok...
However, there is no reason why this should not have been much more "unique" or "different" than most other buildings out in this part of the metro. Or is there?
-
It reminds me of almost every single building in the E.C.
No kidding, the lack of imagination is astounding.

So it's a go? It is proceeding?

No one got this.
Sorry... what's the punch line?

I believe it used to be a sulfur mound of sorts. I remember it used to be a yellowish color.

Any grocery store opening in a food desert will likely take on the added burden of paying for more security it seems.

There are no stupid questions.

Awesome, so when does construction start?

Anyone have a story like this? Woke up this morning and on my way to school I get a call from a really angry dude saying I hit his car and took his bumper off. As I'm trying to explain I have no idea what he's talking about, he says he has a note "I left" at the scene with my number on it and kept asking me for my insurance. I keep telling him I have no idea what the hell is going on and he starts to get really angry, to which I respond "alright let's calm down and figure this out" Then he starts laughing and I hear an automated voice go "You've just been pranked!"
What the hell kind of prank is that? I've never heard of anything like that, but job well done because it definitely scared the shit out of me
Sounds like it's related to those virtual kidnappings brought to you by Los zetas.

I'm guessing it was actually 2002. You were one of the first people on the board. Didn't you write the sub-forum description blurbs?
I remember when this site was glasssteelandstone. I recall being one of the first 10 ppl on this board. Of course not under the same name. Y'all remember xeelee? Was over at skyscraperpage in it's infancy as well. Posting pix left and right at the time.

What percentage are illegals?

But tolling is the only way the road gets built. Without tolls, you have no road. The nice thing about toll roads is that the people who use them pay for them.
Hogwash! How did all the other highways get built?
New ones could be built/expanded the same way.
