Segregation can really be traced to redlining.
Is this like gerrymandering?

Mike, usually projects like this have a little lead time built in. Should probably be kept to a minimum but it happens.

Are there any major Chinese oil and gas companies with a major presence in Houston?

i say Exxon before Chevron, (supposably Exxon is moving their HQ into Hughes Landing if that one article is to be believed) but both should eventually end up here..
I wouldn't consider the wood lands "here". It is quite removed from the city.

This, and it will continue to help move people into the area. A boost for local business, a boost for the appeal of the area. Sorry homeless people, but you may have to move soon...
Perhaps they can be relocated to that new shelter under construction in katy.

Some of the same posters brag about all the office space in greater Houston, when it would not all fit inside the loop!
I have this strange feeling that it would.

I think some interesting questions to ask I think are:
In how many countries does the pedestrian have the right-of-way as in the USA?
and
In how many countries does the automobile have the right-of-way as in France?
-
Well... I do agree that roads are for cars and not kids... and that in a land as vast as the lower 48 the automobile really did open up travel possibilities. I can see how pedestrians walking in between parked cars on the curb will want to "cut" through them to cross the street, they will encounter unsuspecting drivers racing towards an unfavorable sempaphore - and get run over. That would not be good.

Given that houses in far better condition in the Loop are being knocked down for new townhomes, unless this Sears is a huge success, it really makes a lot of economic sense to close this location, knock down the building, and sell the land.
Something very tall would have to go here... Perhaps mixed use.

It's still there. I buy tools from them all the time.

Looks like they've revised their renderings from the last version I've seen. Looks good. Not sure how soon these will get off the ground, though... We're about to see a flood of new space hit the energy corridor (and one major lead tenant in a big westchase project currently u/c has already pulled out)
Pulled out? Any reason why? Would u happen to know if the company is in the energy services field/industry?
-
Hrm... nothing spectacular. Looks like maybe 100k sq ft.

that railroad crossing seriously needs to be trenched into an underpass below Westheimer..
I think it should be eliminated entirely. I mean, why is there a train in the middle of this and other areas???

Well at least it's taller.
Taller > shorter.

Frankly, I can't imagine that to be the case. Or at least I hope not. The tower itself reminds me of anadarko.

Culberson and astounding lack of vision have done more harm than good.
And whoever said we don't get excited about those buildings is spot on.

You're response was unwarranted and off topic.

Oh? Pardon, but who is that?

It sounds like a fluff piece to me.

Whatever the outcome ... be prepared to pay.

My answer is Yes. With enough time we will see a flyover over Kirby from 59 to memorial parkway. Say 20 - 50 years.

The burning question for me is - what are Dubai's zoning ordinances?

I was under the impression that the northern boundary of the so-called "energy corridor" was I-10. This is way north of that.... on Clay Road at BW 8. Is this correct?
