Judging by current travel times, going from Wheeler to the Galleria would probably take about 25 minutes, but you're right once you add in taking the train there from downtown plus waiting for the connection, it could easily be 45 minutes

Real life charette on a train

3 more floors and the roof

Cool but dangerous looking freight elevator. I hope they keep a lot of the industrial features in the new building - maybe even make that freight elevator the one for furniture and couches and stuff somehow

It won't move unless the bus companies have a reason to. If the city starts citing them for causing a nuisance or something, maybe they would but until then they will sit there until they get bought up by a developer

....couldn't they have put the billboard on the roof?

Another advantage of the rails being on columns is if 288 floods, the train would still run, with really eerie views

Probably because prices are too high in those sectors. While high itself, the EaDo and East End sectors are quite a bargain compared to most areas within inner loop west.
But the idea behind microunits - less than 500 sq ft - is to be able to afford a place in THE area you want to be in. Just a quick look at some listings, condos in converted buildings are going for $250/sq ft, while freestanding houses in EaDo are going for more like $188/sq ft.
I do wonder how well these will do - and if they are actually sub 500 sq ft
Edit:
Ironically, I noticed my picture changed to "condominium" when I posted this

I believe office space - otherwise a two story office building would be just as big as Chase Tower

I don't think so... so I guess the building is being built pretty close to that rendering, though they apparently didn't notice that the streets are all one way streets not two way streets. Also, the buildings in the background seem pretty random to me. At least its not all one color of stucco

All we have right now seems to be a very simple drawing - even simpler than what we had with the Market Square Tower. I suspect it will come out looking like a shorter version of OPP, especially if the architect is the same. It should look especially nice from the freeway, where it will look like a a large house as opposed to a high rise

I'm not sure if there's a current thread on this or not, but it looks like they are moving forward with toll lanes on 288. I hadn't heard about this - much less hearing it was delayed. Anyone have any idea what the design is going to look like, particularly coming into downtown & the med center?
On that timeline, the 10.3-mile tollway from U.S. 59 to Brazoria County would be completed in 2018, Lewis said.http://blog.chron.com/thehighwayman/2015/10/texas-288-toll-lane-work-expected-mid-2016/

Can they have the large sign down the side though? I thought there was some ordinance preventing that in downtown.

Nice shots! What is the last picture of?

We drove back from Dallas yesterday and some of the frontage roads on 45 are still flooded out south of Corsicana. Still a lot of water up there

except the Taipei 101 tower looks good

I like this church's approach to Sunday school - high rise classrooms
Joking aside, it looks good on my 27" monitor, especially the similar colors

Lots of people stopped behind him in the rear view mirror

I don't see any resemblance

My question is where is the ellipse?

This looks like a building you'd see in a comic book or in a sci-fi movie - but in a good way

Nice shot
Is this tower going to be taller than BG place?

The downtown transit center doesn't really have a waiting room really. The small size of the Greyhound waiting room probably causes a lot of the current problems at the current location. It would be nice to see an integrated station though
