  1. At least it has a buffer between the car lanes and the bike lane.  The Bagby redo in downtown is really the best way to do it - there's enough room for bikes to coexist with pedestrians and be fully separated from traffic.  Barring that, having the buffer have a concrete curb is good as it is a real barrier from cars using the bike lane as impromptu parking

  2. The bike lanes do feel tacked on - it felt like they had a design similar to Bagby then decided to put a bike lane in last minute.  It does provide a nicer tire changing experience when you have a protected bike lane between you and the escalade doing 45

  3. The big issue is the sheer amount of single track railroads combined with freight trains that don't fit on sidings.  If a freight train is coming the opposite way the the amtrak train has to stop and wait for it to pass - there's no other choice

  4. Last I saw the plans, the Inner Katy BRT is supposed to terminate at St Emanuel & Rusk, riding in the light rail lane through downtown. I do think it should just be an extension of the silver line though instead of a separate line

Also it should be a train but that’s too expensive for some reason

Wait until they come across a Diverging Diamond.

I've run across a few of these in the last ten years, and they're always startling to me.

I haven't seen any in my — admittedly limited — Houston travels yet.

In Lexington the circle highway has maybe 12 major interchanges, and there’s a diverging diamond, a single point urban interchange (SPUI), a cloverleaf, a 3 level stack, 4 normal exit ramps, and a bunch of traffic lights

incidentally, the Kentucky traffic engineering school is located at UK right there

  6. I think the 40/41 could be fixed with a little smarter frequency & timing.
The 25 and especially the 82 need dedicated bus lanes to be on time at peak. Richmond and Westheimer have the room west of 610, but making a dedicated bus lane where the 82 really needs it is probably politically impossible
