  1. Now if we could just get rid of some of those ugly power lines, Houston would actually be pretty decent looking.
  2. was that scott dissik walking downtown on the far left in the photo on page 34???
  3. That's funny. Reading these posts are a complete surprise to me. The last few times I've gone downtown on a Friday or Saturday night (a night where I'd expect the most attendance), it's been dead as a doorknob. I smh in disbelief each time over how downtown, although is shaping up with new amenitites and urban structures like Green Street, it's a mere shadow of its former self of the Main Street activity from the mid 00's.
  4. I'm with citykid09 on this one. I'm a little iffy about all the redevelopment will going as planned now that the ownership is changing hands. Oh well, can only sit back and hope for the best.
  5. Man this pisses me off. Why does this man seem to keep geting his way on everything? He easily keeps getting re-elected and continues to be a road block for Houston's progress in lightrail. When will we get a break?
  6. Can they just hurry up and get started on the damn thing before they decide to chop off any more floors? Embassy Suites downtown all over again.
  7. katy freeway from downtown to katy tx is definitely the nicest stretch of freeway with the arches over 59 a close second.
  8. Energy corridor serves a different purpose than the skylines of downtown, uptown, and TMC. EC is a linear array of buildings that serve as a gateway entry/exit coming into/ out of Houston. It actually reminds me of Denver when entering into town on I-25 coming from south. It has many buildings lining the freeway like EC, just not nearly as massive. BTW, i drove the EC the other day and was blown away by the amount of new buildings, midrises, and highrises that's gone up since I was last out there. It seems like one long stretch of nothing but big shiny buildings hovering over the Katy Freeway. I'm thinking, Houston is really one badass city in TX. And what's the deal with everyone talking about Uptown like it's chopped liver in comparison to the TMC. Uptown is still the bigger, taller skyline and is definitely densifying in the area of the BLVD place development. Granted, TMC is denser, but that still doesn't take away from UT's overall mass.
  9. Don't worry, Houston has enough light hovering over all of its freeways to spare it wouldn't be noticed
  10. MORE HIGH MAST LIGHTING POLES IN THE GREENWAY PLAZA AREA GOING UP ???? What's with Houston? Like we need more of these high mast lighting, obstructing Houston's fascinating night skyline views. Doesn't greenway plaza already have enough high mass lighting clouding over the freeway? I almost started a new thread over this, but didn't think my rant was worth it.
  11. I wouldn't say all this. Isn't it in Houston's past to announce projects that take forever to get built, then either scaled back or not built at all? BTW. I'm glad things are so obvious to you. OK, i'm cool with being the dumb guy who comes on this forum for entertainment & leisure, not as a professional.
  12. i stilll don't understand why its gonna take 10 years for this.
  13. Yeah in New York (Brooklyn, downtown Manhattan, etc, i did not see any big bog grocery stores. Just small grocery stores in small bodega style storefronts. I think people want Houston to become Seattle.
  14. Yeah idk what's with all the "One" namepicks for all the towers. One park pl, One Market Square, etc. Starting to sound a little cheesy to me.
  15. I don't know i must be going crazy. Because I swear I was looking at a page from metro's website that only had the 3 lines uc with no future lines in the works. Now, its there.
  16. I thought this was supposed to be a pedestrian development. Drove by a few weeks ago and was disappointed on how far set back the development is from the sidewalk.
  17. sorry for the false hope of any new news. Just was really hoping for someone with a little more knowledge and insight of the topic to chime in and insure that didn't mean this line was dead.
  18. So it looks like the metro website finally decided to take this line off any future plans from their website.
  19. Would be nice, but seeing since this is Houston, we're more than likely going to be stuck with the original "box" they presented us with.
  20. I guess I've learned t not get too excited about these type of developments anymore. It seems a little overambitious and something that will probably take a very long time to come to fruition.
  21. I've driven by that site several times in the last year and 1/2 and don't recall seeing the glass elevators there. I remember the stairs being constructed but not the elevators. Not disputing what you're saying, I just don't remember seeing it.
  22. I drove by the site the other day and noticed that elevators had been installed where the staircase is to the lightrail line. I was thinking that "something" may be coming, maybe not on the magnitude of the original hardy Rail Yard plan but something big is coming that they haven't really revealed to us.
  23. So what's the deal with this? Is this still happening or what?
  24. I hate this man with a passion, and I'm normally cautious about using the word "hate".
