  1. I think this is good news and definitely great for Spring. I'm just not that excited about this because it still creates to the Houston area's existing sprawl. I'm more interested in seeing downtown and areas inside the loop develop. Still a good looking development though!
  2. ^^^ Man please! You can say what you want about Dallas, but Dallas's night time skyline blows Houston's out of the water! Houston should try to imitate Dallas.
  3. Yep, another perfect opportunity for Houston, wasted. I drove by the building to see what everyone is so upset about. Not only is the back of the building facing the park, but also the crown where the lighted E is supposed to go. The renderings made it look like it was going to be a light on both sides.
  4. One would think that a building owner with empty tennants wouldn't even have the $$$ to light exterior lighting. Do you really think that's the reason why Dallas lights its buildings? I thought it was to look pretty.
  5. I don't know about you all, but this is pretty close to the renderings if you ask me. Everyone's getting so worked up over an unfinished project. Just wait for the final product like Highway 6 said and the chips will probably fall in to place. It probably won't be as bad as you all think.
  6. It wouldn't be a contradiction. This building is LEED certified. They can do the LEED in different colors.
  7. please don't tell me this building is complete. I'm pretty disappointed on how architecturally uninspiring this building is. Even the lighting at night is very bland looking, although the wind turbines look cool while spinning at night. It would look cooler if they lit up the crown in a different color other than boring white. Kind of like the Memorial Herman building in the Medical Center that changes color inside its crown. Downtown needs some buildings like that.
  8. I've been to Denver a couple of times and It does appear to be more progressive than Houston, at least in its downtown area development and mass transit. However, it probably lacks when it comes to restaurants, shopping, diversity, and culture.
  9. Well the title say it all folks! I'm curious as to what happened to the Buffalo Bayou Master Plan efforts. The last major thing was done in 2006 when they landscaped the Buffalo Bayou Walk and lit the underpass blue. I thought, according to these plans that they were going to try to start widening it in sections of downtown and trying to clean it a little. Did these plans just go out the window? Please help me because I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of the aggressive progress being made in the Trinity River Bridges in Dallas. Sorry, not trying to bring Dallas in to this but just saying. http://www.buffalobayou.org/
  10. Before the topic shifts from the focus of my question, does anybody know the answer? Sorry to be so pushy!
  11. sorry for probably a dumb question everyone, but i don't see option c so is option 3 the same as option c? I want to be sure i submit my vote for the right category. I want the movie studio in the plans. Thanks!
  12. So I've curiously been wondering if this idea is a gonner? We haven't heard any updates but the website is still running? Does anyone know?
  13. Okay fair enough but going by that same logic, we could say that's what you guys were doing to C2H. I picked up on it just fine. That's why i used a lol smiley face at the end of my post. Just because i challenged you on that B/S "sarcasm" as you so put it, didn't mean that i didn't understand what you were doing. I'm done with this. Moving on....
  14. you sure got some thin skin if you consider that an attack. It seems you Niche used to be a lot tougher. Your well earned nickname on HAIF "The Pedant" was more of an attack than what I said.
  15. Agree 100% and C2H made some good points too. No disrespect to The Niche and Attica Finch but you guys are being a little ridiculous.
  16. I think i have to disagree with the last 2 posters. Why would we want Pearland to remain the same from 20 years ago? The Houston metro area is changing from the backwoods, backwater- hick area to a thriving area with affluent suburbs. It's called progress folks! I happen to like that area of Pearland and what its becoming. It's a very interesting part to the Houston metro area. So what, Pearland doesn't look like Angleton anymore. I consider that a good thing!
  17. i think i have to agree with citykid09 on this one. movie and film industry seems much more exciting than a agriculture center. That seems like a big waste of space. If you want an agricenter, there's plenty of open land outside of the Houston metro area for that.
  18. how could you think this isn't a good idea? It will create a totally new industry to not only Houston but all of Texas. I'm so sick of cities like Austin and Dallas acting like they're the King cities in Texas. Austin almost had the opportunity to bring film to Texas but if this goes through, it will blow their plans out of the water. Like the article said, if Houston doesn't take up on this, Austin or Dallas will... and believe me they will do it.
  19. When is this supposed to get started again? because it seems as its still in its preliminary stages and been that way for the past 3-4 years.
  20. I'm sure you already know this but jail populations don't count. At least to me! We're not going to see the jailers in their orange and blue jumpsuits walking around downtown enjoying life, spending money, and being patrons for retailers! If they're locked away from society, they're pretty much non-existant.
  21. Last time i checked, the downtown population was a little over 4000, maybe 4500. It still has nothing on Uptown/Galleria population of 20,000.
