Porsche of North Houston is one of the top performance Porsche dealers in America and is a treat to visit. I see this being a mommy-mobile dealer with mostly the SUV's and sedans. I am excited to see this flanking the Audi dealers across the freeway though.

I think it would have been awesome if this site was purchased or donated to Mfah and used as a space for certain collections similar to Rienzi.

Yeah it’s a grey area. The economy was roaring in the 20’s but only for a very select few. Things are definitely looking up but but jobs added numbers can be deceiving, a lot of jobs added in recent years have been second and third jobs because peoples primary jobs can’t support them.

Sorry no pictures and I didn’t get a great look since I noticed at the last second but I saw a large bobcat loading stuff into a dump truck. I might be able to swing by later and get a shot.

Aspire Post Oak: Multifamily High-Rise At 1616 Post Oak Blvd.

Came across it one day on google maps and it has a very fascinating history. https://www.harriscountyarchives.com/Portals/1/Documents/Marker/Final Morse Bragg narrative with figures July 7.pdf This goes into great detail and also shows a lot of what Houston was like pre civil war. This part of town was mostly one large plantation and little did I know but San Felipe was a very old wagon tail long before this part of town was considered part of Houston.- 1,031 replies

One reason it’s going so fast is that the Kinders gave a $70 million donation specifically to speed up the development. -
This building couldn’t have worse street and pedestrian interaction unless they erected a wall with razor wire and guards.

Has this actually started or are they still just adding drainage and shoring up the banks?

They would be stoked! Us history buffs love having objects from the past but generally is not the physical object we love it’s the connection to people in the past that used it. A historian loves nothing more that to find great stories and period photos of of something like this.

I agree. I can see these remaining as a parking lot for a long time. All of this talk of the sinking of 59 has me pretty depressed too. That part of St. Emanuel is a lot of fun and has come so far in the past decade and it’s all about to be flushed down the toilet so some suburbanites can save 10 minutes on their commute for a few years before it’s just as bad as it was before.

A ton of 1.75 liter liquor bottles get dumped here every few months, pretty odd. Just a mass of detritus and broken glass surround the site.

Go to “other media” in the bottom right of the comment creator, click on that and you can see “add image from url.” If the image is already hosted from another site you can right click on the image and copy it’s url and then paste it in there. It will then convert the link into the image that you copied the url of. If you have taken the photo and it is not hosted anywhere you can create a free account in an image hosting site like “Imgur” and then do the same. In fact Imgur makes it incredibly easy to copy the url and will have an option to copy the url right next to the photo once published. This is how people like Hindesky can have have 100 billion high resolution images in their comments.

Anecdotally I’ve seen a lot of old small office spaces outside of major office market areas being torn down and replaced with retail or other more modern and useful development. Honestly would love for that to happen more. I’d rather lose 100 of those small outdated office blocks than one tower downtown.

Texas children’s down the street did this. They added like 10 stories or something to an existing occupied building. This is no doubt a disappointing development on this project but I’d much prefer this to what is currently occupying the land.

There are an absurd amount of empty lots in this city that can be filled up first, then the surface lots, then the shitty stucco strip malls, then... We have so much space to add density without destroying historic structures.
