GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
adr replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
What's great about those shots is that I would totally walk down that street at night, and that's what we need visitors and residents to feel. -
Both of the cranes on this tower currently have American flags flying on their hoists! Highest flags flying in the city?!

Market Square Tower: Multifamily High-Rise At 777 Preston St.
adr replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
This building has really grown on me, as far as being part of this neighborhood. As discussed above, the street-level feel is starting to become clear though I will save my final verdict for how it interacts with Market Square Park across the street. To my eye, it combines the Chicago School window pairings common in the Historic District with the white slate Modernism of The Lyric Center and One Shell Plaza. And yet the whole thing looks so Miami Beach to me, especially the gaudy engineering feat of the rooftop cantilevered pool. It's on the other side of the park from Aris, and couldn't be further away in statement and style.- 1,896 replies

Widening the sidewalks and adding trees on the west side of the 100 block of Main St. When done, it should match the updated trees and sidewalk on the East (UHD) side.

Is this the first time anyone can think of where tourism ruined something in Houston for the rest of us? We've arrived! Also, if it's the tour group company I am thinking of, this doesn't surprise me at all that they didn't follow instructions and were generally a hassle.

Market Square Tower: Multifamily High-Rise At 777 Preston St.

They dropped off some matchbooks and koozies at the bar the other night. They have signed some retail, which apparently includes a dog grooming joint and a yoga studio. They aren't yet ready to reveal their tenant for the largest retail space.- 1,896 replies

Quick poll - while I usually describe this building as "Frank's Pizza Tower", sometimes I use the actual name, Aris. So - my question is, how do you pronounce this? 1. "Heiress" 2. "Arise"

Petition To Change The Downtown Forum's Description
adr replied to BigFootsSocks's topic in HAIF on HAIF
I would possibly be for removing "run down", because it's still hella seedy down here. -
Yep. Fenced off. Per the crew this is now slated to be an 11 story garage, rather than 9.

Over the weekend, all of the parking curbs and meters were stripped from this lot, leaving a completely blank surface. There are orange cones preventing would-be parkers from entering the lot. I will keep an eagle eye out for future developments (utilities marking would come next, I suspect; followed by core samples). Also there is a wild and skin-of-teeth-substantiated rumor/theory that Spaghetti Warehouse (a block away) is looking to build a garage and movement on this is related to their outreach. Apparently they approached the Bayou Lofts about buying their garage several months ago, which was/is nearly at full capacity.
