Hines buys out his neighbor that complained about his "cracks" in his patio and the noise etc. of construction.

What about the antique pavilion on Westheimer and Revere. It used to be a grocery store 20+ years ago and now has some tacky "antique " stores and a small Berry Hill.

I like how they don't mention Afton Oaks when they say surrounded by prestigious neighborhoods.

Add me to the jealous crowd. Geez Houston, lets get a hotel that puts us in the big league.

There are concrete trucks lined up for a big concrete pour today.

They put a good bit of the crane base in on Friday, and driving a block or so down is the Levy Park buildings crane. That part of Richmond will look so different by this time next year.

That is great. It will be ready for Super Bowl.

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't recognize the Catholic Church steeple in the other photo.

I searched for a thread in this but didn't see one. The realtor has for years put up all these signs saying it's back. To me, this is certainly a place for apts and GFR. Why, in this market is the shopping center dead except for Amy's Ice Cream and Freebirds? I would post a photo of it but don't know how yet.

I am so glad. I am thankful the family stood up for those trees. I am not a tree hugger per se, but if those engineers hopped in their cars/trucks and went to the job site, they surely couldn't imagine smashing them down. Besides, part of the joy of driving in the country is seeing the trees and pastures.

You are right. I misread the ABC13 link. It is indeed the first Sunday of the month, beginning in April. Thanks for catching that.

I remember in the early '80's they wanted to close lower Westheimer permanently and have restaurants and bars on both sides. I think this is a cool idea and I hope it works.

Part of Washington, White Oak and Westheimer streets will be closed to vehicle traffic this Sunday. I remember in the early '80's they wanted to close lower Westheimer permanently and have restaurants and bars on both sides. I think this is a cool idea and I hope it works.

That is such great news. One thing about Hines, they don't mess around!

Will do. Learning my way around this site, which I love by the way. I recommend it often.

I know this is an architectural site, and I am all for by passing some of these small town speed traps, but couldn't we save these trees?
-
A lot of buildings planned. It would be nice to see some above 40 floors, but I'll take it.
Great List!
What about the 12 story Hanover in Southampton?

This one really surprises me. It was such a handsome house. I guess the land values trump again. Could've been a cool restaurant or something.

That would be great. That building has been an eyesore for 50 years.

It will be interesting to see if Lovett does commercial or a huge patio home project here.

Like I said earlier (but was mocked about "and cars will fly" which was funny) these one story strip centers and box stores are obsolete. The land values are dictating more dense use of the land.

Flying cars sound fun! Then we wouldn't need that pesky light rail.

Say good-bye to all these one story box stores with huge lots in front. Next up, Randall's , Kroger, etc will have apartments above them. Not sure when, but it will happen.
